Re: Event 1 2017
Also had a great time. First time back with SCCA org after 5-6 years. Chiefs, stewards and workers were helpful and great. Course was simple and fun.... yet I DNF'ed 3 times ..... one with a spin at the second slalom . Funny how everyone knows to never lift or brake in a turn.... except me.... year ...

Classing ? Appendix A ... WTH? Change on site?
?????? OK.... So I've been out of the SCCA realm a few years. And then, I only had to worry about Vega and 2nd gen Trans Am classing. HS & FS was easy. Apparently, there's a zillion classes out there that cloud my old, dim, foggy head...... Since the the engine-swapped Vega is out of commission,...

Re: November 26th RallyX #8
My buddy can attend and co-drive my Miata. Since I already registered, do we just add him on site?
Any additional cost to co-drive?

Re: November 26th RallyX #8
Got everything swapped in....... should be good to go!
My buddy just bought a '90 Miata that needs parts/work. He is wanting to join in the fun but can't this weekend. Car won't be ready, either. Maybe next season.
Sean, he lives down the road from you.... may need to get with you on some parts.

Lol..... I love it. Similarly, I lost my only "trophy" shirt from '09-'10 when I won one event in FS .... in my stock '79 Trans Am at PSCC...... during a break-up. I really miss that "trophy" . I wonder if the new dude even knows what it is? He just don't know the glory of winnin...

Re: Cruisin' the Smokies 4/30/16
Finally...... got my Video from Wracker's GoPro. Shows my steering inputs and the course ahead. The other Vega video I posted has the same steering box ratios that I have.... the difference is his car has S-10 spindles for 5-lug. The arms that the tie rods attach to are much longer than stock Vega s...

Count me in..... My rotation work schedule will conflict, but can make about half the month's events.
Rotation work schedule killed my bowling league career..... and the fact that I suck didn't help much.

Video: Not my car, but here's a video showing the issues with a Vega manual 4.4 turn steering box. This guy actually dislocated a finger on his left hand by gripping the inside of the steering wheel. Obviously, a big no-no..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQxss6bGSzs&index=1&list=PLHZa9l...

Found out why the Vega's quarters were rusty.
Cleaning out the quarter drains.
Oklahoma red dirt (dry, very dry) probably wasn't too bad on it's own..... but add water from the screwed on mud flaps.....

Upgraded front anti-sway bar from a stock 7/8" to one from a V8 Monza Spyder (F-41 handling package) which is 1 & 1/8" . Added poly end link bushings, too. Whoa! What an improvement. Still looking for an F-41 rear bar.............. Comparison: http://forums.h-body.org/download/file.php...

Re: NA Miata Knowledge
Is their something in the drinking water in Rockwood? Probably...... my first autocross was in a stock '73 Vega around '06 at an autocross school at Meca. It was awful but loved it. (Still own car.... as well as 2 other Vegas). Followed that up with a stock '79 Trans Am around '09 at Pellissippi. W...
