Obviously I'd say 88-91 CRX/Civic si or Miata... seeing how those aren't options for you... if you can find an E36 in good shape for a good price then I'd go for it. I know my next street car build will probably be an E30 or E36. Maintenance and reliability on a Civic/CRX or Miata is pretty outmatch...
