Steve which one of those did you pax the best in?
They were just instructor runs so I wasn't paying close attention and I just got 1 run, but I was faster in the CAM car on good tires than my car.

edit: On raw time, can't remember by how much. But SSC PAX was also impossible.

Re: Cam Rules 2020

The slow stuff was equally slow in everything I drove. I'd say sub 20mph. It sucked HARD in the FRS, kind of sucked in a 370Z that I drove, and really wasn't THAT bad in the Mustang and Camaro.

Re: Cam Rules 2020

And there we have the difference in a big car vs a small car and how they drive..... I'd driven that course in my FRS first. There were some really painful tight sections in the FRS and then some fun fast offsets. In the big cars, the tight stuff was less painful because you easily get back up to s...

Re: Cam Rules 2020

Heres what I hear... every body that doesnt run CAM.. judging CAM. all those folks need to jump in one.. and show us CAM drivers how its done. Its that simple. and if not.. go back to judging FM.. I drove a couple at a CCR weekend. I thought it was miserable and I'd quit autocross if I had to...

Re: Cam Rules 2020

To be fair to CAM, I do understand that we like modding our cars and making them look cooler and make more power and sound better, and you get to learn about tuning and car setup, etc. And that driving a raw modded car to a 45.5 or whatever is a different experience than driving a stock version to a...

Re: Cam Rules 2020

I know that I am new to all of these ideas and have only ran CAM except for a few event when I started. But can some tell me what the purpose of comparing CAM to any other class and the times they run? I understand that it would make a difference in some cases, like our local pro class, and when so...

Re: Cam Rules 2020

I don't really get the idea that people are sitting around waiting to win a CAM jacket to do a serious build. What is nice about CAM being a non-jacket class is that you guys don't have to go through all the write a letter, Advisory Committee meets, member comment, Advisory Committee meets and decid...

Re: Cam Rules 2020

ya'll got a different outlook on CAM than I do.. There isn't enuff money made to over come 3000 lbs and 200TW tires. Yea, the class will get somewhat faster.. but it aint NEVER gonna be a "damm those cars are fast" class... I think CAM ought to be about STU fast, maybe a bit faster. STU is .66 fast...

How about comparing those times to Daddio in a BS Mustang? That would ve a little closer.

So what JY estimates as under $10k in mods (I don't know the car, but I'm sure the body panels and wheels cost several grand) slows you down by .8 seconds!

Re: Cam Rules 2020

Everyone who was quick moved on. The people that moved from Pony to M3 didn't instantly become quicker. Ido went from 8th in a pony to 8th in an M3. Justin Eckles went from 10th in a pony to 13th in an M3. The guy who was the fastest in a pony this year was slower than 14 other pony car drivers in '...

Re: Cam Rules 2020

I'm not really convinced that an M3 is much faster than a pony.

2018: Ido was 8th place, 3.1 seconds out of first. In a Camaro.
2019: Ido was 8th place, 3.0 seconds out of first. In an M3.
