I had a DNF rate of 75% and my clutch gave up, but it was a blast! The 3 cars at a time thing got a bit scary at station 1... there were a few times where we were sandwiched between sliding Corvettes on both sides. Fun course. I enjoy the longer ones. I thought it would be DNF city but after a couple extra walks and a slow first lap it was no problem at all.

Yep, throw some mods on it and they'll throw you in the shark tank with the Miatas! Whatever you do, don't turbo swap it

I use an Odyssey PC680 in my first gen RX-7. It's about 15#'s and not much bigger than a factory radio. If it'll cold start a carb'd rotary then it should start a Miata just fine.

Is the National Challenge open to anyone, even local turtles? I'm guessing this is a chance to run against the big dogs. What can we expect as far as turnout, format and such? I've never been to a national level event.

I'm okay with the entry cost. It's more than autocross, but you get more seat time out of it. I too hope the spectator cost can be worked out. It would be nice to be able to bring a crew member, and it's uplifting to have a crowd out there for support. I think the Redneck Resort will find that 5 buc...
