Re: Oak Ridge Motorsports Park needs help

Here's the input I sent: To those it may concern, I am a 70 year old resident of west Knox county who has been involved in motorsports since the 1970’s. Currently I have an active road racing license with the Sports Car Club of America, and participate annually in several 3 to 4 day events at facili...

Re: Miata wheel bearings

Chad, After repacking or replacing front hubs, many Spec Miata road racers torque the spindle nut to 150 ft. lb. or higher but do not stake the spindle nut, then run one short track session to 'seat' the hub bearing, retorque to 155 ft. lb. and stake the nut. I've been doing it that way for years an...

Re: 2005 Elise needs corner balancing and an alignment. where to go?

Boovett, send me a PM with contact info. I do have a set of scales & ramps to corner weight my ITA Miata - not the ones owned by Henry/Hurst/Graser/Brown. I don't know the finer points of setting up an Elise but at the minimum I could help you check current setup. Won't be next weekend - I'll be...

Re: interest in a SARRC at NCM?

I would definitely run a double SARRC weekend at NCM if it fits the SeDiv schedule better. Was tempted to run the GL Div regionals there last weekend, but the schedule was just too tight with the Double SARRC/MARRS event at Summit Point this coming weekend and the Double SARRC/ECR at Roebling Road J...

3 Wins for Graser - Congrats!

Lee Graser took his 'new' ITA Miata to 3 wins in 3 races at Carolina Motorsports Park this past weekend. On Saturday he qualified on the ITA pole for both the SARRC sprint race and the Carolina Cup pro race - and won both pulling away. On Sunday morning, it was a frigid 31 deg for the 2nd SARRC spri...

Re: Your experience taking it to the road courses.

There's a pretty active group of 'older' SCCA road racers in ETR. Joe Hensley, Stan Hinds, Lee Graser, Jim Stockburger & Stan's son Shaun - he's the youngun' at around 29, runs SCCA and also races with a Chumpcar team. I'm in the 'older' category as well, did autox and then jumped into SCCA w2w ...

Re: Spec Miata / Heads

Yes, if Stearns had finished in 6th place instead of 7th, he would have been in impound for the tech's list of post race checks - for SM that list did include pulling the head and checking valve diameters & intake/exhaust ports, but did not include pulling valves from the heads which was require...

Re: Spec Miata / Heads

My understanding is that the top 6 'on track' finishers were called to impound for all races - so that if any of the 3 podium finishers were penalized there would be backups to take their place. In the case of the SM race, tech had decided to check several specific things on the top 6 in impound, bu...

Re: Spec Miata / Heads

I thought I read that the protest was based on qualifying … and the protester was qualifier #12 … and that the protest was followed up on after the race, rather after qualifying The name on the protest was Will Schrader - 9th place qualifier. Schrader is from Oregon, and word is that a group of Pac...

Re: Spec Miata / Heads

Over the last few years the '99 & up NB's in Spec Miata have gone from low 120's hp at the rear wheels to around 130 - combination of head work & adjustable fuel pressure allowances. SM's have to use a stock intake between MAF & throttle body, no porting work allowed, stock exhaust manif...
