Re: Chattanooga HoHo Solo Dec 2nd

Interesting course. It tended to equalize performance between cars with different handling characteristics. Here's my best run (actual lap time 48.78 seconds): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCtI32IjP-o Berrry Langley drove my car in a fun run after the event and was two seconds faster than my best ...

Re: 2013 pax

Forum trolling can be great sport if you're doing it for fun. Back in the days of USENET I used to correspond on rec.arts.written.sf.robert-jordan, or something like that anyway, before the Wheel of Time series had become so bloated and the author died. Anyway. the trick was to post something comple...

If I weren't 100 miles away, I would consider it.

Re: Chattanooga HoHo Solo Dec 2nd

I'm sure the final design will be safe, I was just commenting on the preliminary layout. Besides, it can't be worse than this course at Clemson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGEPQQHBklg I'm leery of curbs too. I once broke the front suspension on my MGB many years ago when I hit an icy patch coming...

Re: Chattanooga HoHo Solo Dec 2nd

I'm in if the weather stays good. That finish line looks a little scary. Those little circles just past the finish line look very much like trees. In fact the current satellite view in google maps shows that parking lot with an autocross under way. Zoom in and you can see the cones and chalk lines. ...

Re: Regional #12 GoPro Video (TFSP S-10)

MARKP, I'm leaving for Austin this weekend so that's out. December 2 would depend a lot on the weather. I'm reluctant to put the AD08's on if the temperature is going to be in the 40's or below and I'm reluctant to tear up my relatively new all-season tires, which are on wider than stock rims, not t...

Re: Regional #12 GoPro Video (TFSP S-10)

Dewitt, I gotta be honest with you, I think you are completely over thinking and over analyzing the data. Forget it for now....as a matter of fact, leave that doo-dad at home for your next 6 events. Next time you autocross, you should have the goal to spin or win on every run. My guess is you still...

Re: Regional #12 GoPro Video (TFSP S-10)

I think you will be very surprised when you go to a wider tire and it will make you a better driver because the car will handle better. Better handling car= a better driver. 46 years of standing on corners at club racing events as well as crewing says different. I've seen lots of people in good equ...

Re: Miata, Miata, Miata

Maybe solo is different, but I know a lot of club racers who ended up spending a lot more building their own engines than it would have cost them to buy professionally prepped engines, not to mention not being competitive in their class.

Re: Regional #12 GoPro Video (TFSP S-10)

I don't think you are looking at 245/40 vs the 275/35, the shorter sidewall on the 35 takes care of most of the issue with wobble and flexing during hard turns. I am like Gary I think the 275/35 will be much better on your mustang. When my skill level gets high enough that tires are the limiting fa...

Re: Regional #12 GoPro Video (TFSP S-10)

MARKP, IMO, giving up 1/2" in width really isn't that big a deal in most cases. Looking at the tire selections from BFG, Kumho, Hankook, and Goodyear, it looks like you can get any of those tires and still be within 1/2" of the diameter of the 19" Hoosier. On the other hand, the Celic...

Re: Tire Shaving

Marcus probably won't be at every event next season - if he's not I would be willing to get behind the wheel with you. I've got some experience with relatively powerful RWD cars on street tires - I won't blow the tires off or slam the gears either, since I wouldn't be competing in pro. I'm a flight...

Re: Regional #12 GoPro Video (TFSP S-10)

No you can run 18 as long as it is an option on the car and ford parts and that was an option on your mustang as well, but like you said you have to spend the money to get those. The 18" rim option has a width of 8". While that increases the number of tire manufacturers, it makes putting ...
