Re: Clutch noise?

Dewey, what is this you speak of with newer cars... You mean my 1993 Camaro is no longer new??? On many cars these days the clutch slave cylinder looks like a brake caliper with a hole through the middle of the piston for the input shaft. The release bearing is mounted on the end of the piston. For...

Re: Clutch noise?

A throwout bearing will only make noise when the clutch pedal is pressed. I would be afraid that a grinding noise would be in the transmission itself. That used to be true but the newer cars that use a slave cylinder that is concentric with the input shaft don't pull the release bearing away from t...

Re: Power Bleeder???

Once there is fluid in the hose, there's no chance it will suck air into the system. This is not the way it always works. On more than one occasion I have seen the fluid run out the hose using only part of the volume of the hose while air is going in through the remaining volume like pouring liquid...

Utilities sometimes forgive the extra fee for water that leaked depending on circumstances. You should give them a call.

Re: New carry in / tire mounting & balancing option in Knoxv

Welcome back Joe! Joe does excellent work. He impressed me by doing the detective work to solve a weird problem. I had a loud squeak coming from a rear wheel whenever I leaned on it. I had disassembled and inspected the rear suspension and brake on that side and checked the wheel for cracks. I could...

That was the trash pickup prior to MATG. The funny thing that day was watching the guys on the bicycles pass the cruiser bikes in the corners. I am finding that one drawback of the Lotus is that it gets on the feature page every time I take a casual drive. No hiding my activity anymore. I know what...

Re: Best shops for services (Alignment, Tire Mounting, etc.)

The few times I've asked John Brown about doing any work for me, he turns me down. I guess 12 hours notice just isn't enough for some people. I'm sure he does good work for those with the foresight to plan beyond, "oh crap, i need this done NOW". This can happen when someone with a good r...

Re: AC Question - pressure too high?

What could get in the system to cause the valve to stop up? When recharging, you can get moisture in the system causing corrosion. Particles from hoses, O rings, and other seals can also cause problems. Could the door between the AC condensor and the heater core be blocked open or open due to a vac...

Re: Best shops for services (Alignment, Tire Mounting, etc.)

Maybe John Brown is too modest to blow his own horn. He installed new springs, front struts, rear dampers for me and did an alignment. I have been very pleased with the result.

Re: AC Question - pressure too high?

If it used to be cold and now isn't and no one has worked on it, it can't be over charged. It is possible to over charge one though. If you think it is overcharged, try bleeding R134 out a little at a time to see if it gets colder. It is possible to have high low side pressure due to a blockage. If ...

Re: AC Question - pressure too high?

If you hook up gauges to the high pressure side and low pressure side, you will get pressure that constantly varies according to temperature and the cycling of the compressor when the engine is running. If that was static pressure with the engine off, I have seen it as high as 60 psi. With the engin...

Re: Red Light Camera: Not Enough

I am all for this change. There are intersections where it is legal to turn right on red after stopping but the white line is too far back to see across the intersection. When you pull a couple of feet past it to stop, you will get a ticket. My wife and I both got tickets from the camera at Kingston...

Comparing the Feb and June FastTracks it looks like the idea to move the early Civic Si from ST to STS didn't happen. Did I miss something?
