Re: AC / Refrigerant Question
Works great when I can't see on my commute in the winter because my defroster doesn't work because I have no AC. Been there, done that.

AC / Refrigerant Question
I bought my miata with both high and low AC pressure the same. I got the r134a recovered and replaced the expansion valve and condenser first. That didn't fix it, so it was the compressor - I got a used one and put that in. I also replaced the receiver/drier and all of the relevant O-rings. I vacuum...

Shop to dyno tune a turbo?
I'm looking at megasquirt + turbo in the next year on my Miata. (I won't be autocrossing it.)
Are there any recommendations for a shop in town that knows how to do this sort of thing? I looked through the services recommendation sticky, but I'm looking for kind of a specific thing here.

Whoops: mods, I meant to put this in general not road racing.

Re: Anyone have a miata crank pulley tool?
Yes, except oil pan on. Thanks for the tip Bob, but I ended up saving my sanity and grabbing a 350 lb-ft Kobalt electric impact from lowes for $150. Saved my sanity and helped me get a stuck caliper pin loose too!

Anyone have a miata crank pulley tool?
I'm guessing no, but I need to pull the crankshaft bolt on an engine that's already on a stand without flywheel, I am trying to avoid the rope trick, and I'm trying to do it by Sunday. I'm referring to a tool like this: http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?deptid=5681&parentid=0&stocknumber=3...

Re: Miata Issue After Track Day
Well... I realize this has no bearing on whether it's actually a bearing (I'm HILARIOUS) as I've been told by other people who know miatas better than me, but the compression test looks pretty good for a 16 year old engine. Spec according to haynes is 128psi minimum, 182 standard, 28psi max variance...

Re: Miata Issue After Track Day
I'll definitely drop in a replacement over a rebuild, just because of cost. No garage until possibly Aug 9, so I'm twiddling my thumbs until then. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=li2lQj1rHlo I dunno, quasi-internet-confirmed exhaust leak videos I've found sound similar. I'll also mention that I did ...

Re: Miata Issue After Track Day
Thanks, really good to know! I have a truck, I'd rather just run and grab an engine to skip trying to ship it, I bet that's not cheap. A buddy of mine pointed out I could simply have an exhaust manifold leak screwing up the tune etc. I need to do a compression test and pull the exhaust manifold... W...

Re: Miata Issue After Track Day
Yeah, it's sounding like dropping a new-to-me motor for the time being is the way to go. I think it's always been making this noise, but it was quieter before so I assumed it was HLA tick... the fact that it got louder is probably bad. I should hopefully have a garage after Aug 9, so I'll be able to...

Miata Issue After Track Day
I went to TGPR last weekend for a track day, and blew my radiator. It was on the start of the cooldown lap, I cruised in at like 2000RPM. Car definitely overheated, when I pulled into pit and came to a stop it died. I trailered it home. New radiator was put on tonight. That let me fill up the coolin...

Rotrex STX150 Traction Oil
I sold my Rotrex-supercharged truck; I've got about 1/3 to 1/2 a bottle of Rotrex STX150 traction oil. It's backwards compatible as far as I know, and works with any Rotrex. This stuff is about $100/liter. I'll sell this partial bottle for $40 or so, you can use it to top up as you lose oil over time.
