Re: Dixie/Zmax
The SCCA Regional club race is still on at VIR this weekend. Some friends of mine are going. I'll have a report when I hear from them.

Re: Dixie/Zmax
I would say that the risk from an autocross is minimal compared to, say, a basketball game at an indoor stadium, a nursing home, a cruise ship or a parade in a big city. It's outside and the only time that most of the people interact closely is at the driver's meeting and trophy presentation/party. ...

Re: Novice program
IMO, CCR has the best novice program. One of the features is the ability to have an instructor drive a novice's car for a run that doesn't count. Novices also get one more run than other drivers. Having someone show you in your own car how much faster you could be is really effective. It's a feature...

Re: Zmax event on 2/22
As Steve said, the pavement strongly favors race tires, so much so that they have two pro classes, race tire and street tire. Otherwise, street tire drivers would have no chance using the standard PAX.

There's no www in the URL for Evolution Performance Driving School. But yes, the link works now.

Re: 2020 Solo (Autocross) Schedule
I get a 404 error too. When I mouse over the link, it reads as "forum dot etrscca dot org/www dot evoschool dot com. In case it isn't obvious, replace the 'dot' with a period and eliminate spaces. I spelled it out that way so it wouldn't get reduced to a link.

Re: Cam Rules 2020
ya'll got a different outlook on CAM than I do.. There isn't enuff money made to over come 3000 lbs and 200TW tires. Yea, the class will get somewhat faster.. but it aint NEVER gonna be a "damm those cars are fast" class... I second that. There's also the problem of center of gravity loca...

Re: Cam Rules 2020
It works, or rather worked, for me. Just because I wasn't fast didn't mean my car wasn't.

Re: Cam Rules 2020
I was not a big fan of replacing steel doors with plastic ones with no collision protection in CAM. IMO, that would make the car unsafe to be a daily driver on the street and possibly uninsurable for street use. The same goes for thin plastic windows, especially the windshield. As I remember, there ...

Re: East Town Mall
Since they tore down the Sears part of the Fort Henry Mall in Kingsport, it's possible that there could be enough parking lot available on a Sunday for an event there. There are secondary areas with lousy paving that could be used for paddock and grid. The pavement on the main lot looks to be in goo...

Re: CAM Classes suck. Why would anyone want to be in one?
Mark,
Thanks for asking. We've had some ups and downs over the last year. Right now she's in an upward phase again which we hope will continue.
On CAM rules, the operative word is some or a few, not lots.

Re: CAM Classes suck. Why would anyone want to be in one?
Become a real class and give up the "extras" You mean have lots of fiddly rules that don't always make sense? I have a car that had been competitive in FS but wasn't any more. This car is also my daily drive. CAM makes a lot of sense to me. The car is now even more fun to drive on the str...

Re: Car number first event
You choose it during registration. Some numbers may have been reserved. You can reserve a number for the season by registering for the first event of the year even if you aren't planning on attending. Just don't pay when you're registering at MSR. If you don't show, you don't owe anything.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a note in today's Kingsport Times-News on upcoming ETR autocrosses: https://www.timesnews.net/Motor-Sports/2019/07/30/Sise-makes-last-second-pass-for-Volunteer-win.html?ci=stream&lp=4&p= PARKING LOT RACE The parking lot between Bristol Motor Speedway and Bri...

Re: What class is my car?
Short term, if you run in novice class, then the car class doesn't matter as only your raw time counts. Long term, you won't ever be competitive in STU at major events. That's pretty much why the short lived STP class and the CAM-C classes were invented. OTOH, there aren't many locals running in STU...
