Re: New Ride - '73 Chevy Vega Station Wagon.... yes, a wagon
I just realized that the LS1 F-body calipers to 1st Gen S-10 spindle brackets from flynbye.com are on backorder. Their machinist died in Dec. They currently have another machinist on board but they are behind.

Re: New Ride - '73 Chevy Vega Station Wagon.... yes, a wagon
Visited the pullapart on Friday to get some 26 spline axle shafts from a 1st Gen S-10 to fit in the Monza 7.5" rear I picked up a few years back for $10. This simple swap allows me to upgrade to 5-lug wheels. Sadly, Vegas had the 4-lug, 6.5" rear and finding parts for them (LSD) i...

http://carphotos2.cardomain.com/images/0015/65/26/15555662_large.jpg Gathering up drivetrain parts to swap into the Wagon. The engine is one of my "spares" and will not be used in the car.... it's just for mock up. Gotta fab a trans crossmember for the longer tailshaft of the Camaro T-5. ...

Re: New Ride - '73 Chevy Vega Station Wagon.... yes, a wagon
Cool. I love Vegas. You should make a panel wagon out of it! That and the 215 V8 should be really cool! I liked the GT too. Cornering on the door handles can be fun. Love the GTs. I've had a few of them. Here's a video of my current '73 GT daily driver from a few years ago(semi-retired.....ne...

Re: New Ride - '73 Chevy Vega Station Wagon.... yes, a wagon
Cool project. FYI, S10 calipers are single pistons. If they are dual, they are from another vehicle. I should clarify.... not S-10 Truck...... '98-'04 2WD S-10 Blazers use dual piston brakes...... .....however, they use the sealed hub/bearing assemblies like most of the 4WD vehicles of today. Not o...

Re: New Ride - '73 Chevy Vega Station Wagon.... yes, a wagon
Oh yeah, they're better. I've contemplated these calipers since they are aluminum and are considerably lighter than the S-10 calipers. Larger rotor, too. Adapter brackets are required --- but they used to be available from flynbuy.com. Not sure about anyone else making them. I already have the S-10 ...

New Ride - '73 Chevy Vega Station Wagon.... yes, a wagon!
Been a while since I posted.... or even raced a Vega(I think it was Meca driving school a couple years back). I haven't raced with you guys since 2009 or 2010 when I ran the old '79 T/A... completely stock! Anyway, I've always had a Vega of some sort since the early '90s but never got them into any ...

Re: Peach State Muscle Car Challenge - August 5-7
Congrats.......... I'd love to do RTTH. Don't know if the T/A will be ready for that. PSMC is much more laid back and not as "official" as RTTH and the other events. When I say ready, I mean I need to get busy on the brakes and steering. Just replaced the front wheel bearings today at Wrac...

Peach State Muscle Car Challenge - August 5-7
Cartersville, GA This is a great event.... and a great bunch of guys. Lots of runs last year. Last year on Sunday, there were only 12 cars entered. We got a lot of runs that day. Two day event (Sat and Sun), $50 each day. With a cruise and dinner on Friday. http://www.pro-touring.com/forumd...

Re:
[....... next time we have fun runs you can take the suby out.... you will then sell everything to have one, trust me on that I'd love to try that. I'm afraid I would sell everything to get one. A new, well-engineered, modern car might make me throw rocks at my old rides. I didn't tell ya that the ...

Re: ok..tell me one more time WHY we dont have 3 run groups???
yeah, plus I'm one of the types that doesn't keep cash on them and I've often forgotten my checkbook on the way to an event. Me too.... I use a credit card that pays rebates for everything.... I never have cash. This event was a spur of the moment from a late night call from a buddy that wanted to ...

I loved seeing the Dirty Brd Flying! Did bandit proud! Ha ha ha..... he's hanging his head in shame. Sure, it's easy to roast the tires with all that torque and hard as glass tires...... but I couldn't drive it worth a flip. Strange, I won my class in it at the first event this year with 2 other co...

actually, the timing light cord was over on the side where I was doing sound. If you had hit the timing light cord on the other side, you would have run over the milk crate... the cord on that side attaches to a battery in the crate. Great news! I only suck like a hole in the SS Minnow.... n...

The only complaint I have against the 2 heat set up is the fact that I was not able to walk the course right before my run like the first group. I completely forgot the course layout while working the deep, blind-spot down at station 3.... I nailed station 3 area pretty good, though. I walked the co...
