Re: School me on used car tax, tag, & title costs
All of this can vary depending on who is the title clerk that you deal with on the day of registration. They will look up the car's value and compare it to the purchase price. Even if you got the steal of the decade, you may be paying full tax on the value, not the purchase price. This used to be a ...

Re: Project ST2 Rebuild
I feel your pain Michael. Once the car is built, the greatest cost of road racing for me was the travel(which includes housing, tow vehicle, trailer, etc). While I was upside down 2x in my career and was towed in to the trailer and winched into the box more times than I want to admit, once I got som...

Re: Motor not happy :(
I had read that lobes were a big issue with the 05-06 cars but most of those seemed to be "tracked" cars which spent substantial time in the high rpm range. I am a little surprised that your car with the SC would have the issue. Good Luck! Dave, once you have done either of the clams and k...

Re: Springs???
I am not sure that I can explain it in a correct technical manner but having the spring seat at the top of the shock/strut would seem to place a lot of stress on a small area of the shock/strut that is not well supported by the body of the shock/strut. Again a longer spring places the spring seat cl...

Re: Springs???
Check Westhaven Auto Parts. They had a good supply that last time that I was looking for springs. They are a circle track shop so they will have more inventory in the weights that those guys typically run on their cars. Essentially the spring length will determine where the spring seat sits on the s...

Re: 92 rear miata hub removal
Pep Boys used to have Moroso studs. You can also get them at Performance Products, Hot Rod Barn and probably several other places. ISC is a miata racing shop so I know that he has them.

Re: 92 rear miata hub removal
There is a gap in the backing plate so that if everything works right(yes, that is a big qualifier) you can tap out the old wheel stud and replace it. BTW on a miata after 1991, the rear studs have a different knurl than the fronts. For racing purposes, I would install the longer studs. You can buy ...

Re: help with harness
Cabot has the correct drawing. Once or twice I have had to open up the bracket a little to make it all fit. Having tested belts on more than one occasion, you want them done right.

Re: help with harness
Done it many times but hard to describe. You wrap the belt back onto itself. If it aint real tight, it aint right. Ask Dale Sr.

Re: September Adesa Event
Please remember that this is a fund raising event for the United Way and they are bringing in vendors for a contribution to the greater good. Your fee does not include food vendors or other swag and just covers the day of racing. We are trying to find vendors who will satisfy the tastes of our racer...

Re: Spring Rates for my Protege
JB and I ran Escort GT's in ITA and were using 500# springs or higher on all corners. You needed the high rate to support the weight in the front and to make the car turn in the rear. Talk to the guys at Corksport and get their recommendations.

Re: RIP Carroll Shelby...
I havent always agreed with some of his decisions, endorsements and promotions but face it, no one else has ever done what he has done for cars in general and specifically, the Shelby models.
