Re: July 17 adding an auto cross

So ETR will have autocrosses on consecutive weekends? Event #8 on July 24 is already up on MSR.

Re: 6-12-22 course

I have a video with data overlay, but it probably won't help because I just wasn't able to keep my right foot down in the fast part. My top speed on course was a little over 60 and I can do about 70 at the rev limit in second gear with the taller (than the BFG) Falken tires. It's possible that my ca...

Re: May 29th event

If you're not driving, you don't have to pay. You do have to sign a release and get a wristband to show that you signed the release. The release table is usually close to the club trailer. You can even borrow a helmet from the club and get a ride with someone. I don't know anyone that won't talk abo...

Re: Classing Help

For a novice, I think it's really important to ride with someone competitive at least once. Most novices have no idea how fast a car can go and still be in control. Even better would be instructor runs like CCR does for their novices where a good driver takes you for a run in your car.

Re: Classing Help

What about XSA and XSB? I haven't really looked into it but someone I was talking to this weekend thought that all of STM could be folded into one of those two classes.

Re: Event #3 Bristol Recap

We only used headsets for starter and grid yesterday. One of the possible problems with people talking over each other is that they're not actually listening to the radio some of the time. Headsets for everyone would help. Do the radios use the standard 3,5mm jack for headphones? If they do, I can ...

Re: Event #3 Bristol Recap

Brian, corners SHOULD be calling in what corner they are calling from... "control, this is corner #3..." "go ahead 3" "corner 3, +1 ( or 1 cone ) on 58SSC" "Copy that 3, +1 on 58SSC" It's SOP at races to use that procedure. On the other hand, there is a dedica...

Re: Event #3 Bristol Recap

That was fun. It was nice to have new tires and grip. But I was so excited about the tires and other stuff about the car, I forgot to turn off stability control. Something to remember for next time.

Re: Event 2 check in

I took a nearly forty year break before I started autocrossing again in 2011. I didn't consider myself a novice.

Re: Test and Tune / Points Event #1

I should be getting four Falken RT660's tomorrow.

I was at a tire store today for another reason and they mentioned that tire prices are going up by up to 20% on April 1. So if anyone else is thinking about buying tires soon, you might want to move quickly.

Re: Test and Tune / Points Event #1

That was fun. Unfortunately my tires were well over four years old. I'm buying some new Falkens like the fast Mustang FS car ran.

Re: Car Setup Help

A closed cell foam pad is better than cardboard and even helps a lot on pavement. I have a small one that was schwag for working a club race and my knees are very grateful.

Re: Test and Tune / Points Event #1

The ten day forecast says dry on Saturday and only 30% chance of rain on Sunday. High on Saturday of 73 and 69 on Sunday. It will be cold Saturday morning but warmer Sunday morning. I'm hopeful.

Re: Car Setup Help

general harshness in the suspension.
Isn't that the point of using delrin bushings? Harshness and faster response are two sides of the same coin.
