All the ITS cars he mentioned are rwd. (no v8's though  ) There's always American Sedan, but I don't know if they're plentiful around here.

I have been looking at the supplied spring rates with the popular coilover setups out there. Most are 7kg front/ 5kg rear, except the TEIN which is 8/6. Autocorssers usually run either the same rate all the way around, or a little higher in the back than the front. This helps the Impreza rotate muc...

The spring rate you want depends for the most part on what ultimate suspension frequency you need. According to Don Alexander in "High Performance Handling Handbook", the "best" suspension frequencies for various surfaces are: Smooth surface- 3.2 cps (cycles per second) Moderatel...

if I read the Tn Tech web page correctly, looks like $264. I haven't talked to them yet. Unless it's substantially cheaper to do it non-credit, I figure might as well get the certification. I could grab a book and a welder and figure it out, but I say it's better to learn it right the first time. q...

Just an FYI, I won't be at tomorrow's race. I'll be tearing apart an RX7 and dreaming of open air driving. See you next year (with or without a car.) :)

However, if you're going to use the Rx-7 steering arms, you need to stick with a rear steer rack (Miata rack is front steer) or make new steering arms, or use Miata front uprights, which would give you different bolt patterns, but the rear axles can be redrilled easily, which you give you a much wi...

I wouldn't at the sites that are in heavily populated areas, eg. Oak Ridge Mall. The other sites like Meco are a judgement call.

Oh, speaking of steel, I get all mine from SSS steel in East Knoxville. At the time I was building mine, the steel (mostly 1" square tube) for the whole frame was about $75. I do know steel prices have gone up, but I don't know how much. I would recommend using new steel. What steering rack ar...

Fixed it! Sorry 'bout that, I just snarfed a link to a pic on the cmc page. Thought it was smaller. Dave, Thanks for the links. I found the Mcsorley site a few days ago. I'll order the susp/brakes book right away. I have a few books about handling (how to make your car handle, high performance handl...

Re: For those who were wondering......

So, bring it on. I need as much advice, tips, kibitzing, financial contributions, free mechanic work, etc. as possible from any qualified (and I use the term somewhat loosely) person. I am hardly qualified as a mechanic (I can change my own tires!) but I'd be willing to help out in any way I can. I...
