Re: Huntsville Sunday
It was good to have abs working again as I will always have a spare front and rear abs speed sensor from now on in the trailer. Now it's time to start getting the car ready for fort myers pro in March.... Melting wheel speed sensors is not what I would call a good recommendation for Wilwood brakes....

Re: Are you using data and video?
What are you logging with? Android or Apple? SoloStorm is Android only. For iOS, there's Harry's Laptimer. It costs a lot less than SoloStorm, but is mainly designed for track use and doesn't have some of the bells and whistles of SoloStorm. As stated, internal GPS, is useless for autocross. The up...

Re: Are you using data and video?
I cant hear my tires. :( Really? Is that because the car makes too much noise? My understanding is that BFG Rival S tires generate maximum grip at quite high slip angles where they do make some noise, although not that much. John Smith complained that he had trouble hearing the tires in my car beca...
Re: 2018 NCAC
I think you can use an SCR tuner box and a laptop to log the individual wheel speeds. I'm not sure about that, though.
Re: 2018 NCAC
JY,
Likely one or more of the other wheel speed sensors is also bad. That would affect both abs and stability control, as both depend on knowing relative wheel speeds.

Re: Today
I could win a class of 5 and index 250th at the event and make the challenge, then win by dropping time. Outside of determining who makes the challenge in a few classes, index has nothing to do with winning the challenge. Absolutely correct. Looking at results, you would expect runs with small numb...
Re: Today
Long slaloms, even with wide cone spacings, are always going to favor cars with narrower tracks over cars with wider tracks.
Re: Today
I hit 57 in the run going into the showcase....but that's my limiter in 2nd. I wasn't on it long so I'd guess with more gear I'd probably been somewhere around 62-63ish. Sent from my SM-S975L using Tapatalk Assuming you were at full throttle in second, you wouldn't have accelerated as fast with mor...
Re: Today
I DNF'd twice there. Once when I wasn't looking far enough ahead on my second run and the other time when I got out of shape at the exit of the sweeper and couldn't get back to the line in time. Speaking of which, something to add to the cone penalty briefing at the driver's meeting: If you hit the ...
Re: Today
On reflection, I think the course might have been a good teaching course at an EVO Challenge School. By the way, you're all welcome for my sacrifice of running on my Continental DW Sports to keep the rain away.

Re: Event 10 checkin
Tomorrow will be the first time for us at the event. What class do we need to sign up for? First time 18 year old driving a BMW 328i. Nothing fancy just wanting to have fun and learn. Thanks for any info. What model year? 328i's run in at least two different classes, DS and ES, depending on how old...

The Weather Channel says partly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain and a high temperature of 87 with 70% humidity.
There's a 60% chance of rain from scattered thunderstorms at Bristol on Sunday.

Re: Classing question for the Alfa
I think the tune takes you out of Street Class and puts you in Street Touring. There is an Alfa Romeo Giulia listed under STU.

Re: Event 8 in the books
According to wheel speed and RPM, my minimum speed at the last turn was 25 MPH and 2500 RPM. According to my last chassis dyno run, I have about 300 ft lbs of torque at the flywheel at that speed. No need to downshift. I was never happy with my line, though. Mostly I was braking too late and sliding...

Re: My car class?? Solo?
If you're serious about autocross, you might want to look at the Starting Line school at Bristol the Saturday before the ETR event. It's not inexpensive, but it comes with a lot of freebies as well as getting you off on the right foot with high quality instruction. It's a lot easier to start with go...
