I'm pretty sure your test (CMS-GT4) only works for clutch type differentials. For viscous, I think you can check by only jacking one wheel and trying to spin it, quickly. It should spin some and then stop. This test won't work on torsens and neither will the test you used. The only way to check to s...

Re: Looking for some help from better/more experienced drive

Count me in. I would be happy to help. I enjoy driving the big V8 stuff and if I can help you improve, all the better. Just don't get discouraged. Autocross is always a learning experience. I try to learn all the time and I've been doing this for 14 years now. (Jeez, I can't believe it's been that l...

I might make an event or two there. I always had fun running there with the PCA and we usually brought as many SCCA entries as they did PCA entries.

Race the truck... people love the truck... Oh, wait a minute, maybe that's not you.

Anyway, welcome! If your truck happens to be two wheel drive, you can run it (as long as it will pass safety inspection). I have been known to drive my Suburban at a driver's school before.

I drive figure 8's on mine until I wear off the tire sticker. I do this at least 24 hours before I decide to run on them (longer if possible). I also put at least 5 lbs of extra air pressure in them so I don't end up abusing the edges. Take them off the car when you are done and let them sit. The po...

All of my currently running VW's have Quaife (torsen) differentials in them. They do feel a little different but once you get used to the different feel, you won't even know it's there. I have had the one in the race car for about 10 years and I had my first CV joint failure last year shifting to se...

Congrats to Robert Carpenter

Our autocross family got a little bigger yesterday. Sarah Carpenter was born yesterday healthy and happy. She was 7lbs 3oz and 20" long. Mom is doing well but everyone seems to be tired. Hopefully there will be some pictures later on.
