In relation to testing suspension travel, what is that? I've seen it mentioned a few places, but none have included an explanation.

Are you looking for a rule change or a rule clarification? I don't think the former will happen and I think you know the answer to the latter. Run it like you want and if you get protested, that means you are driving well.

The host hotel is frikin 15 more miles away or something. I'll stay at one of the other two hotels....the Hampton or Comfort Suites IIRC, there's also that little Italian place nearby that has pretty good food. I bet they'd cut us a deal on drinks if we stayed there a while. OR We could grab a coup...
