Ok, I pulled up google earth and started looking for blocks of empty pavement of similar dimesions to adesa (I'm also somewhat familiar with the area around knoxville & maryville). I haven't done a search of the pavement section so pardon any repeats. Also, I don't have an "in" with an...

Excellent event, great site, outstanding weather, and not even that bad of a drive from knoxville. I've been to a few other events locally, but this was my first as an actual member, and this re-affirms the decision to join up as the correct one. Much appreciated to all the organizers. Course was fa...

Kenji produces a seatbelt bar specifically for the MR2 which allows mounting of belts at the proper height relative to the driver's shoulders so as to avoid spinal compression. It's not a roll bar though. Before I'd get into any sort of wheel-to-wheel racing, I would certainly invest in a cage and a...

Also, I could definately see the logic for the reverse. That is, I would never think of putting a cage/bar in a vehicle without also having a harness. A passive restraint could let the occupant come in "contact" with the bar/cage with detrimental results...especially if it remained in the ...

non-factory upper body restraints may only be used in open cars, cars with targa-tops in the open position, or cars with T-tops in the open position when two conditions are met: a. The roll structure must meet either the requirements of Appendix C or Section 9.4 of the GCR. b. The top of the roll s...

As an update to my last post, I have done some research and I can't find many (in fact I've come across none) track day clubs or schools (NASA, Car Guys, FLMP, etc) that expressly forbid the use of harnesses in the absence of a bar/cage. The only harness related issue is the requisite of a submarine...

I am aware of such restrictions (with regard to the harness), and that's certainly something I will consider when I go from planning to actually putting stuff in the car. Unfortunately, I do know a fellow who rolled an MR2 while being a jackass on the street (took it off a bank), the A pillars bent ...

I appreciate the feedback first of all. I think I'll probably opt for a harness and some decent front tires (not V710s or anything) first and then fiddle with the rest. The harness is important because I do plan on tracking the car outside of autocrossing, so that's a safety thing. Exhaust would onl...

Ah, one more:

harnesses. I read and understand that the passive belts cannot be removed from the car, but can I add and use a 5 or 6 point harness in stock class? (if the bar is not structurally enhancing the car of course)

stock class mods?

I was contemplating fiddling with my MR2 a little with the object of offsetting the detrimental shift that my car's PAX multiplier took this year. (7th in novice class sunday, would have been 4th with last years multiplier...oh well). it's a '91 Turbo, currently absolutely stock with the exception o...

I'll tip a hat toward LNS, I've had a good experience with them. Also I have a close friend that had an engine-out job on a Testarossa done there and had nothing but good things to say about how it was handled. I can't speak for either of the other two, I've never dealt with either.

This will be my second season running at ETR events (and the first was not a full season). I have been amazed at how smoothly everything seems to operate. I can barely tell a difference between a 40 driver event and a 100+ driver event. Kudos to all the organizers! I'm looking forward to the next on...

Pellissippi State ?

I know that PSTCC has several lots of sufficient size. The question would remain as to how much light-pole interference there is. I don't recall the pavement quality being particularly poor, but that could have changed. The campus also isn't too close to any large residential areas, so I wouldn't th...
