Re: Your experience taking it to the road courses.

Started with a private school ("Car Guys" if they still exist) back in 2006, then wend into the NASA HPDE ladder, now running TT with an instructor certification for NASA SE. Have done all sorts of open lapping/track-day/club schools since I started. Unless you are running wheel-to-wheel s...

Re: What was your first car?

The 1991 MR2 Turbo I autocrossed until I got my NSX fit for purpose was the first car designated for my use and later that I owned. I was given a budget in highschool, and after some haggling, narrowed it down to an MR2 (with a Turbo being ideal), or a 300ZX (Z32). I remember being pretty bummed whe...

Off Topic Travel question (Topeka?)

What the least hassle/quickest route to Topeka. I figure someone on here will have done the legwork on this. I'll be headed out that way this weekend and figured I didn't need to speculate or re-invent the wheel on this one.

:)

Thanks!

Re: I give - Justification for long sleeves/pants at track d

I know NASA normally requires long sleeves, but does relax that for HDPE/TT groups at some events (i.e. Road Atlanta in August) since the odds of heat exhaustion become greater than car fire. (and HPDE you likely still have OE belts and normal doors so easier/quicker to get out vs. belts/net/window)...

For reference: http://www.jegs.com/i/Zamp-Helmets/970/ ... tId=762409 I think that's probably what you're talking about.

Re: Best shops for services (Alignment, Tire Mounting, etc.)

You should definitely do the coilovers yourself. The install itself is easy, it's the setup that takes work and time. Unless the only camber plate option is weld-in...then it gets a little specialized. If they are bolt-in, then it's definitely well in the DIY wheelhouse. @ OP: That's a really clean...

For public reference: Alcoa Good Times used to stock it, and I think Knox Performance or EAG could probably sell you a bottle from their stock.

If you still have this after 7/4, I may be interested pending sizing my significant other's head.

Re: Driving Shoes

Do you need them fire rated?

If not, hit up the indoor soccer section of your favorite sports store. Indoor flats make great driving shoes.

For fire rated stuff, I'm not aware of any local stores.

Re: From SCCA National - No Drones

I don't think this is a big deal. I think I have comprehensive insurance on my car, and if the operator of the drone that crashed into it can be identified, I think my insurance company has a pack of bored lawyers that would be happy to engage in a little subrogation. If it hits me personally, barri...

You might also check with High Velocity. I don't have personal experience, but I also haven't heard any horrer stories. 'Not sure how much MS experience they have. Just tossing another option out there.
