Re: this coming weekend?

Chattanooga or Charleston (actually Belle), WV. They're both about the same distance for me. Atlanta is running Saturday and Sunday, but that's a little far.

Re: Chilhowee - Solo In The Park 2013

I had a great time. The terminal understeer is definitely gone. Now I just need to learn to drive the thing closer to it's new capability.

Re: Regional #7 Pellissippi Epilogue

DeWitt, I noticed that you were getting tunnel vision in the slalom, which led to a huge push through the next turnaround and into the crossover. I did the same thing. Yes. The worst thing is that I knew I was doing it in the early runs and I still did it in my last run. Here's a video of how not t...

Re: Regional #7 Pellissippi Epilogue

Yes, good job on the course. The percentage of DNF's on the first run was a lot lower than last time. Of course it helped that I had a navigator with me on my first two runs. Now if I can correct the terminal understeer.... I'm pretty sure that not all of that is me. I'm going to Charlotte Saturday ...

That will teach me to work from memory. "13.3G Tire must fit the allowable wheels and fender wells without modification."

Looking for a co-driver for July 21

I think the car is still a lot faster than I am, so I need help. Also, my new Dunlop ZII's appear to need a lot of heat to work. Four fairly widely spaced runs at zMax wasn't enough. I've ordered tire blankets from Stranoparts. I don't know if they'll get here by the weekend, though.

Re: exhaust in cs

If I recall correctly you can do cat back, front sway bar, air filter, tires, ... hmm, can't remember the other big ones. Shocks (separate reservoir shocks are probably going away), wheels (must be same diameter, width and offset within +/- 0.25" as the stock rims), crash bolts to adjust caste...

Re: exhaust in cs

That's certainly how I read the rule. However, the exhaust system must meet sound control standards [3.5]. But anything that is street legal will probably not be too loud. However, note that the Event Chairman has blanket authority to declare a car is too loud.

Here's one of my laps at BMS for anyone who missed doing a set: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPp31VL5NBM

My fastest lap on the autocross course, not that it's anything to write home about. I keep braking too late so I don't get on the gas soon enough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qZPuQe5MJs

Re: 6/23 Bristol Epilogue

Great course, although a little scary in spots, not to mention bumpy, especially with a live rear axle. I don't really know if it was more study, better course flow or what, but it was nice to be able to drive the course rather than trying to find it. I think my tires are just about gone. I definite...

Re: Bristol - Solo Time 2013 - June 23 - Registration open

Here's a map of the course without cones: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/91578766/June%2023%20Bristol/Course%20Map.png It's 7/8 miles long, looks pretty straightforward, and fast. They were chalk lining when I left, so even the one place I had to ask about when I walked it the first time should...

Re: SWVRSCCA Solo Belle, WV

Glad you had fun. I know the course was pretty straight forward, but did you do anything differently with course walks? I walked it about three or four times, but it was intuitive. There were flour outlines, pointer cones and directionals (three laid down cones in a row) that made it pretty obvious...

Re: SWVRSCCA Solo Belle, WV

Thanks, It didn't feel all that smooth when I was driving it. I was on the ABS braking for the box, for example. Stabbing the throttle with over 300 ft/lbs of torque on relatively skinny street tires often results in lots of smoke and rotation where you don't want to be rotating, when it doesn't res...

FS

I can't decide whether to laugh or cry. Probably both. Somebody needs a sense of humor transplant. Probably me.

SWVRSCCA Solo Belle, WV

That's Southern West Virginia Region. It's about the same distance for me as Chattanooga. The scenic route through Pikeville, KY is about a half hour longer but saves $6 in tolls on the WV Turnpike. There were 5 other FS cars entered, but somehow I managed to win the class by a few tenths. Course ma...
