Re: Ladies STM class

I assume Gary is referring to Scott's comment about putting prep limits on the class and LeMons cars fitting elsewhere. STM is a perfect fit for the Geo. It's hardly an overdog either. STM is a catch-all. That doesn't work if we start putting prep limits on it. I don't see a reason to have a PAX in ...

Not sure why the display quit working?

It just happens occasionally. The power connector is a little flaky. Power cycling the display (instructions are on the back of it) usually fixes it.

Re: Ladies STM class

Experience is so much more important than gender. I give her a few more events, and she will probably be beating up on any male STM newcomers. Especially in that car. Lin is relatively new to the sport, and she would have nearly trophied in STM at the first event. Very few people are awesome at auto...

Re: 9 MARCH SMACK

STM is looking like a big class tomorrow. The Geo should be out there too. We think it might stay together long enough to make a few autocross runs.

I should be there to help out with equipment setup.

Has anyone fixed the cable that got stopped on? Ted? Didn't you say you'd take care of it?

Re: New to AutoX Solo with questions

We have a local-only class we call STM. It allows any car as long is it's on street tires with a treadwear of 140 or higher. Based on the level of modification that it sounds like you've done, you will fit in well with that class. I don't have a clue what national SCCA class you'd fit into. When you...

Re: anyone know this car?

I've quit "asking" for the VIN too. I personally take it off the vehicle myself. When I was RV shopping early last year, the first one I looked at was a 99 model Fleetwood. When I checked the VIN number, I thought the plate looked odd. Ran it later, and it came back as a 1983 Chevy van. Ki...

Re: self check

Personally, i can't tell anything without jacking the car up. Kristo however has some kind of special talent for picking on that stuff. On a few occasions he has noticed something i couldn't feel even on a jack. A couple events later, and i would be replacing a bearing or something.

I have done the exact same thing. I don't know what that guy's torque wrench is set to.

Re: 17x9s ordered -- What tires for STX??

Our Geo LeMons car is a bit lighter than a Cobalt, but.... On one set of 225/45/16 ZII's, we did 3 24hrs of LeMons races, and 6 or so autocrosses with 3 or 4 drivers. The tires still have tread depth on them, but we pulled them to put 255/40/17's on the car. They may have lost some grip from heat cy...
