John,

Just curious, what did the valve timing change do to your bottom end torque? And do you really care?

2004 Solo Rules CD

Strange thing about the CD that came with my rule book -- The actual pdf file did not have a file extension on it so it couldn't be read directly from the CD. I copied it to my hard drive, and renamed it with a .pdf extension and it works fine. Although it says you can't copy or print, that is not t...

I forgot who is in charge of getting more club helmets, but this would not be a bad choice:

Go through Maryville to 411. Turn south on 411 for a few miles and then take 129 (left turn). 129 eventually becomes the Dragon's Tail when it starts up the mountain away from the lake.

http://www.tailofthedragon.com/ This site is slow but has maps and lots of cool stuff.

A quick shock test is to quickly push down with all your weight on each corner and release completely, then note 1. Did the corner go down fast, 2. When you release how fast did it come up, and most tellting 3. did it oscillate. Try this on other cars and get a feel of how a good shock acts. If it r...

IMHO, N2O is not allowed for SoloII. It is a modification and if the rules don't say you can, then you can't. I couldn't find it mentioned at all. As for the bottle and tech -- Others may have a more definitive answer. Without any other information to the contrary I as a tech instpector would requir...

I did a search last year for the best price on Optima batteries and ended up buying from Pep Boys. They were much less than the other dealers. Seems as though we got the big one for $110 or so, although that was last year. Might be worth a call. The battery is a 34/37.

Some locations have a permanent number list posted and members are able to pick and change as time goes on. This allows newbies to figure out what number they want before they show up. Off hand I have not figured out a good way to do this, but we have more system savy people around here. Maybe more ...

Signs Etc. 10420 Kingston Pike 865-531-7977 They fit into both categories - can do the whole job or sell materials. I have used them and found them to be very accomodating and reasonably priced. I made my own with their materials. (After a couple of failed really cheap experiments) Have the exact sp...

Mark, you are correct unless it is a gel cell such as an Optima. The positive terminal has to be insulated whether a gel cell or not.

Joining the SCCA gives you membership in ETR. You can join on the SCCA site, or call them and be sure to identify our region.

Also, I believe that we waive the first autocross fee for new members. Don't hold me to that, but ask at registration at the first event.
