Re: **2016 Tire Rack Thunder Valley Showdown**

Thanks JY, there aren't tires for CAM anyway (Bridgestone or BFG) so that wasn't the point -- but ok.. we'll try to get some CAM-T guys to sign up.

Re: **2016 Tire Rack Thunder Valley Showdown**

I was OUT, but work schedules changed and now i am BACK IN, registered CAM-T. I'm noticing that there are 2 CAM-C competitors and 2 CAM-T Competitors, can we run this as an index class there like we do locally so that we can make a class? (i know, i know.. NO we can't -- but you can't fault a guy fo...

Well Bradley, if you need a couple of dB, perhaps a $10 muff, then this thread might just do the trick.

Re: Event #3 Sound Hall of Shame (advisory)

makes it kind of hard to benchmark the sound against other events when several of the "benchmark" pro cars are not measured..

How I made the car quiet.. (also known as $10 muff)

Mike asked me to write up / share what I did with my car to drop from an average of 93.7 (Pellissippi Average for me) to the 82.3 average at the Smokies event #3. it was super cheap and super easy and so I'll share it here. Step 1: Visit Dollar Tree, buy 2 packs of these, cost $1 each https://www.do...

Re: Event #3 Sound Hall of Shame (advisory)

I don't have room for augers, that's why i did the steel pads.. i'll go back to almost nothing and try to hit 92.9 every week going forward.

Re: Event #3 Sound Hall of Shame (advisory)

I added 3 large scrub pads and a mesh net inside EACH of my 2 mufflers. The car ran like shit -- too much back pressure and it stalled out several times going to the line. I'll CERTAINLY be un-doing some of that (maybe down to 1 pad in there). I will photograph and document the changes so that other...

Some quieters added on both sides, will test Sunday. Very curious to hear the results and how my 93.7 avg changes.

Re: Event #2 Hall of Shame

Mike,

thanks for your hard work. I'm sorry, i didn't mean to sound defensive.. It's a tough job, i know the many variables and issues. Thanks for taking it on and working to help us keep sites. I will quiet down the car..

Re: Event #2 Hall of Shame

15 CAMT (obvious but unknown "outlier") wasn't unknown at all. in fact it was the car in FRONT of me (CAM-T #9) who stalled it, then fired it up and floored it thru the lights pounding his rev limiter as I went by the sound station. I'm still going to work on my exhaust, i really want to p...

it's running and moving under it's own power... Not going to make points 2 in in, he has a radiator hose puncture (from the wreck) and needs a few other odds and ends before running it.. He's also a college student who has 2 exams and a project this week.

He'll probably drive the Camaro this week...

ISO: Alumalite or equal, 60x10 inches

Do any of you car builders have a piece of 60x10 Alumalite sitting around that I could buy? I don't want to spend the full $150+ on a 4x8 sheet that I won't use. if you are into the barter game, i have some 1/4 lexan in smoke gray if you are interested -- makes great real spoilers and you can see th...
