Re: Sound Reg #3 5/22/11
The is engine and exhaust have not been modified. Only new brakes. I have not noticed any sound change while driving it from last yr. My prior exhaust was even louder when running at BMS.

Re: Sound Reg #3 5/22/11
I am still trying to under stand how my car went from 95 db last yr to 104 this year with no mechanical changes. If I may think out loud, with no disrespect to anyone and I applaud you guys for sticking to your guns. My exhaust exits toward the passenger side of the car parallel to the ground, so it...

Re: Possible place in Elizabethton
I agree with Scuffcakes. And it is rough. But that said the owner is a client and I can make it work we have even discussed the topic before. I think a better option is the Bosch plant at the Milligan College exit off I-26.

Closed Bosch plant Johnson City FYI
I spoke to a x employee of the Bosch plant and he said the lot was paved about 5 yrs ago, its larger than Elizabethton High according to him and light poles are on the outside. There are a few close out employees still there and they are trying to sell the site. Could some one check it out? I do not...

Effect of spoiler and splitter on classification
I am considering a wing and splitter on my Elise. (Mainly for track days) It would be similar to what comes stock on the Lotus Exige. Would that change my class which is currently SSM? Also, I assume using a racing slick like Yokohama ADVAN A005 S-Compound would put me out of SSM.

Idea for Bristol Motor Speedway
I was searching the web and noticed that Speedway Children's Charities partners with Tire Rack, BMW and SCCA to put on Street Survival schools. Bristol is a member of SCC! ETR could propose putting on a Street Survival event on a Sat. and then have a autox on Sunday. Just a thought, has this been di...

Re: Chump Car 24hr
Currently, I am the only one that has committed any $$$$. My son wants to drive and I will probably fund his share. I have the truck and trailer. The Elizabethton Tenn. Tech. automotive instructors and their students are on board waiting for the presidents approval to modify the car as a school proj...

Chump Car 24hr
Does any one have any experience in the Chump Car 24 or 24hr of Lemons? I am trying to get some people up here to commit. I have a school that if the Pres. approves can do most if not all the mechanical work as a school project (and they would be the pit crew), which includes fabricating a roll cage...

Re: 1990 Miata in Elizabethton
The Miata is a 1990 I have seen the original paper work and have known the people since before 1990 and the car was mainly a weekend drive car. The paint looks fine and the engine is very clean. She has her mechanic work on it to fix any problems. So I assume its in good mechanical condition. I will...

Re: taxes and racing
Dear Chad The IRS distinguishes between a business and a hobby. To be treated as a business you must prove that there is a reasonable expectation of a profit. The burden of proof is on you. On the other hand a hobby can only deduct expenses to the extent that the hobby has income, in other words you...
