the diff center pin is held in place by 2 LARGE rivet heads that also hold on the ring gear. threaded clutch adjuster is on drivers side in front of trans right behind the radiator fan. Those years of VW also had the self machining gearbox. VW left out a 15 cent circlip in the diff and used larger rivit to hold in the diff pin. if trans fluid is at the clutch cover plate on bottom, congrats...

hmmm... Not sure of the carb on the motor... but did you have the carb all apart and blow carb cleaner thru all the jets? needle and float clean and set correct? Did you get the ball park settings on the mixture.. so many turns out from closed... rich is better than lean, unless you feel like replac...

I have the “scribe a line around the tire and set the pointers on the line in back of tire, then measure how far different the pointer is off the line in the front” kind.
