Re: 01 mr2, good deal or no?
I ended up passing on the Mrs. I was finally able to take it on a test drive only to find out that the transmission is toast. Horrible grinding noise dependant on vehicle speed and what gear you are in. You could hear it in ever gear but with the speed being the same shifting up into 4th or 5th was ...

Re: 01 mr2, good deal or no?
All I'm saying, is, if the engine does blow, that's all the reason I need to swap in a 2zz! That reminds me of a funny story. Old coworker of mine had overheating issues, saw online that your car could be low on oil. So proceeded to add 5 more quarts to their already full pan (Chevy cobalt, I think ...

Re: 01 mr2, good deal or no?
I was thinking about that, they seem like they would want to push or understeer if I didn't load up the front end right, I didn't think it would have lift off oversteer given all the weight in the back but, that's how the civic is and I like it! If I can manage the logistics, I would like to drive b...

Re: 01 mr2, good deal or no?
As far as I know, the 1zz in that car is in basically every Toyota from the early 2000s, I'm sure Ariel wouldn't mind if I needed to borrow the engine from her vibe.... If I could find a 2zz in the junkyard I would be even happier. But even if the engine kills itself I'd imagine it's not too hard to...

Re: 01 mr2, good deal or no?
That's what I was thinking. If I can get my home equity loan to close in time, I will try buying it. It's a car that CarMax bought in as a trade, but since they can't sell it, it goes straight to auction. I can buy a car from the wholesale/auction lot three times a year. I just feel like 6k is super...

01 mr2, good deal or no?
I have the opportunity to buy a 2001 mr2 Spyder with 130k, manual, no known defects for around 6k. No lights, no major leaks, drives good. Would that be a good deal? Or should I just save my money and put more towards the civic!? I don't want the civic's feelings to get hurt if I were to replace it....

Re: Oct 8 & 9 check in
I won't be able to attend the 8th, I have a wedding that day. I want to attend the 9th, but I can't promise anything! All depends on the wedding after party haha. But, I will try my best to be there and setup on the 9th

Re: Aug 21 check in
Sorry I had to bail last minute guys, I worked all day yesterday to get the new suspension (ball joints, wheel bearings and some power stop brakes) along with new axles, aligned it with some string and test drove it last night but on the way to Bristol it started pulling hard to the left like a flat...

Re: Oct 9 event
I just found out that I have a wedding to attend on the 8th, so, I might be out for the 8th. However I would still like to attend for the 9th, I have to find out more details, if I can run the morning of the 8th as well that would be awesome, I can come dressed for the wedding already to save some t...

Re: Chiefs for 2023
I'm down for setup again next year, also, since we replaced the batteries in the eyes recently we might need to buy some more 9v for backup, I think we used them all.

Re: Oct 9 event
Maybe a test and tune type event, not necessarily the test and tune course but sort of a last hoorah, where we can get in some last fun runs for the year? I wasn't able to attend the last test and tune unfortunately, and I know I would like to get some more seat time for Ariel, help get her closer t...

I will be at this one, plenty of time to get the civic back together! More parts are ready to be ordered once my paycheck hits this Friday, sorry I couldn't make it out last event on such short notice

Re: Event 8A check in
Unfortunately I won't be able to make it anymore, the civic is taken apart and the parts I had to put it back together are wrong. If someone wants a co-driver let me know, I promise to drive it more carefully then I drive the civic!
