Re: 2016 Championship Points
I'm quoting this again from Aug 13. It hasn't just now been brought up, it just never happened. I never said JY told me anything. If anyone who is following this thread and went to this event not knowing it was rallycross scoring please speak up. Some people were complaining and some were praising it weeks before and after the event. You're really starting to look like a poor sport here Dewitt. Let me know which direction you plan to go next year so I can buy a car for that class and beat you again.thrdeye wrote:So Ted has spoken. I'm about to retract my statement of "Let's just drop it." This sounds more exciting.Gen52SS wrote:Pellisippi November 6th Coatney vs Payne may the fastest SOB win

Re: 2016 Championship Points
The only thing you could argue is if not finishing is the same as not starting. However mechanical issue could prevent you from taking a run thus you get slowest plus 10 in your class.
The intent with rallyx cross scoring is to prevent a true DNF for invalidating every single other run that has been taken by a competitor. Whether that is clear from these rules....well I think it is. Especially since the precedent has been set, at a National RallyCross event with the chief RallyCross Steward in attendance in 2013
DeWitt can't see that. Saying you would have intentionally driven 20 or 30 seconds slower to skew the scoring is bad strategy at best and poor sportsmanship at worst.
If JY said you have to run both days to get points, I don't recall and that's above my pay grade.
Do we need to bump the great STX battle thread of 2007?

Re: 2016 Championship Points
From SCCA 2016 rallycross rules page 28:
E and D are kinda cool... don't piss off the Event Steward or a Safety Steward.
From the SEDiv event sups on MSR:ARTICLE 5 PENALTIES AND PROTESTS (Mandatory for all SCCA sanctioned RallyCross events.
See Article 2.1)
5.1 PENALTIES
A. A 2 second penalty will be given if a course marker/pylon is upset or totally
displaced.
B. A 10 second penalty will be given for each missed gate. This is called a “gate
penalty”. A gate is defined as a pair of cones placed opposite each other on the
rack, or a single cone with a directional cone to indicate a specific way around
that cone. If a gate or a pointer cone is placed at the beginning of slalom then
the car must go through the slalom on alternating sides of the cones. If no gate
is at the beginning then the driver can decide which way to drive through the
slalom.
C. An additional time penalty if so specified in the supplementary regulations may
be charged for any uncorrected deviation from the course or for unnecessarily
delaying the event.
D. The penalties listed in this Article can be regarded as the normal penalty.
However, the Event Steward can, at his discretion, apply any of the following as
warranted by the offense:
• Reprimand, which shall be noted in his or her record within the sponsoring
region.
• Fine ($1 to $250)
• Probation of competition privileges
• Time or Position
• Disqualification from competition
• Exclusion from competition
• Suspension of competition privileges
• Loss of accrued points
• Recommendation for Expulsion from SCCA
E. Contestants are reminded that conduct is evaluated and scrutinized both on the
course and within the confines of the event site. Unsportsmanlike conduct will
be treated as a serious matter. Endangering other competitors, workers or
spectators will be evaluated on a case-‐‐by-‐‐case basis by the Event Steward and
Safety Steward. They shall apply penalties as described in “D” at their discretion
as warranted by the offense.
See section 5.1.C and the event Sups.Timing and Scoring
This event will be scored differently than your typical autocross. We will be using a "RallyCross" scoring method. This means that your entire cumulative time across Saturday and Sunday competition will decide the SEDiv 2016 Champion. You will receive one drop run on Saturday, and one drop run on Sunday. A DNF will be a 10 second penalty, but only if you rejoin the course beginning with the element you missed. If you do not finish the course in it's entirety (mechanical issue, for example), you will be given the slowest time in class, plus 10 seconds, for that run.
E and D are kinda cool... don't piss off the Event Steward or a Safety Steward.

Re: 2016 Championship Points
I wasn't able to get in front of a computer until now, but those slower times include a gate penalty. There is some manual entry to make it all work, and thus it's not obvious from looking at those results that the slower times included that.dewittpayne wrote:
In the PF class results for the Dixie National, I see several times that were slower than 69.884. If that's something that you put in the supplementary regulations, then it wasn't in the supps for the Bristol SEDIV event. To put it another way, if you can drop runs, it also isn't RallyCross scoring.
