Sound Limit at Pellissippi is now 93 dB
Re: Sound Limit at Pellissippi is now 93 dB
Right but if you get it under 93 db you might as well leave it there.

I wish I had already done the exhaust on my car because it badly needs an exhaust at nats and I think I need to be in that mid 80's range at least.

Depends on what I have to do to get it there. The reason I asked the question is in case I have to stop coming to Pelli events all together because of sound. That's a real possibility for Jim. We're running out of options. I don't know that it's possible to get that car under 93.jcox07 wrote:Right but if you get it under 93 db you might as well leave it there.

If you put the same thing that I am getting on mine, you will be fine. I think I should be in mid 84-86 range and I will know at the smokies event where I have gotten it to.

Brian might be able to, but Jim's car has side pipes. I didn't see any of the Dynomax super turbo mufflers that would be compatible with his car.jcox07 wrote:If you put the same thing that I am getting on mine, you will be fine. They make a 3 and 4 inch round that Jim can use and just wrap the round muffler and it will look just like what he has now.

Awesome. I read the Hall of shame threads when they come out but I never see anything in the high 80s for sound. Seeing as how conditions play a large role in sound I wanted to be sure I was always off the suspect list.

Dynomax Super Turbos are what I have now. By their self they weren't enough. If you have cats maybe.

I have cats, intermediate Stainlessworks ST3243 tubular mufflers and Magnaflow street mufflers. Adding the tubular mufflers didn't make any difference to the sound readings outside the car. I think it's quieter inside, but I don't have before and after numbers. I'm not planning on spending any more money on the exhaust until the situation for 2017 with Pellissippi is clarified. Even if Pellissippi remains on the calendar, I'm leaning towards not going. I'm definitely not spending a dime more until I can be sure that the result will be a car that passes sound, doesn't cost more than $300 including installation and doesn't kill performance.Dynomax Super Turbos are what I have now.
