Avoid “drag race” starts to ensure a fair start for all competitors.

I already don't like this book. 8)

That is prolly the most comprehensive course design literature Iv ever read.

It gives real data and proves in plain talk how far off our courses can be in fairness.
And plenty of things course designers are "forced" to do.. knowing its not safe.

The real speed section is KEY! Especially how a Camaro can put .8 seconds on a Sentra, in just 426ft of course!

8 tenths..

From safety side at pelli, the biggest things to remember are the islands, poles, curbs, turn in for the chute uphill or downhill and finish run off area to slow down.

and reading the course design page .. they list VERY LARGE SALOMS as 70ft... on unlimited areas of pavement or concrete.. :?

I couldnt care less about ever doing course design again...

I still think it is funny that Roger Johnson did the godforsaken eyebrow things at nationals a few years ago that was probably the worst visual that I ever ran.

He also did the "circle" of offset gates that effectively was so narrow that you couldn't drive anything wider than a Miata through there with any slip angle at all.

Meh, Marcus beat that by a large margin this year with that West course. The whole thing, but especially the showcase turn.

I had no issues with that one and liked it.
