95 Mustang GT - Which class?

Post by RUAJedi »

Sorry folks, another noob

I ran into one of your numbers a week or so ago at Veloce and he, much to my wifes dismay, introduced me to the world of Autocross. I am interested in coming out this weekend to Pellissippi so I can check things out and maybe try to run but I am not sure how to class the car for registration. I want to bring my 95 Mustang GT convertible which has had the following modifications: changed out cam, heads, upper/lower intakes, injectors, throttle body, AC removed, running custom tune, lowering springs & tokico shocks, chamber plates, 3.73 gears, front calipers converted to dual piston with larger rotors, tires changed from 245/50-16 stock to 275/40-17.

Any help would be appreciated...hope to see you this weekend.

Welcome! Sounds like a good candidate for CAMC.

Am I going to run into issues with it being a convertible without a roll cage?

You're good - not a problem at autocrosses. Chance of rollover on a RWD sports car is very tiny at AutoX speeds.

Just make sure it isn't loud as we have a strict 93 db limit on sound.

It will have to be near OEM quiet on the exhaust for Pellissippii -that's our only current venue with a strict limit.

If I get there early is it possible to check that prior to dropping money on entry fees?

We can probably accommodate you on a sound test in the morning. Please note, if you don't have a rollbar, you have to run either the stock belts or a lap belt only. Welcome!

XP would also be an option for class. What treadwear are your tires?
