I remember your car. Both myself and the auditor never saw a 1 in front of your codriver or, you all never put it. By the time you let us know and fixed the issue you were already 6 runs in (3rd runs for 2 driver cars). I tried to fix what I could but too much is going on for me to find all your runs and figure out what time was who's.
They were using a blue tape as '1', and for some reason chose to ignore all the white space on their number sticker and stuck the tape on the brown border of the sticker. Had me confused for a couple of runs before I just about noticed it.

This was my fastest run (60.2s) yesterday. I kept making mistakes in my last three laps and got stuck in the 60.2s for all three. Basically butchered the lower section on this run. I also really need to resist the urge to shift into third. That missed shift at the end was cheap time to give away . Going forward, I will make it a policy to not up shift into third for at least my first two runs.

Just wanted to say thanks to all who made this second try at solo a really good time. I was pretty much totally lost but hey, someone has to be slowest guy on the track. Everyone's enthusiasm is infectious and my wife and I will be back for more next season. I may try some RX with another car just to get some more experience reading those cones. Cliff Morris NAS #74

Keep working at it. It does get easier. There were sections of the course that were difficult, visually.

Here is my inaugural run in the new car. Critiques are welcome.

I was really happy with the way it felt for a bone stock car on run flats. The course was also a lot of fun.

I didn't get my last two runs due to a loose plug wire at a coil. Fortunately I figured it out before I had to drive home.

I really enjoy talking folks for ride alongs. I haven't done it much in the past.....but the comments after the last two events have been hilarious.
I need to catch a ride. Hopefully it wont be boring. :P

I finally got to see my shift lights on my last run after 5:32pm. That was kind of different! 8) They just don't show up when the sun is up. I also discovered some more bumps I didn't know were at Pelli. Wont get to use that knowledge for the future. Overall, had fun for the last go round there.

Corner workers: Please be attentive to the backsides of the cars, watching for cone wiggles. If you are running after a cone, do NOT run back in front of a vehicle. If you can run away from the drivers vision and driving line that would be great. My 3rd run I lifted as I was driving into the sun as a corner worker ran back in front of me. I started to slam on the brakes wondering if anyone else was running in the sun I couldn't see who was about to be run under and to point it out and get a rerun. The thought of "if that was my cone they ran after, I wont get a rerun" made me lift off the brakes and keep going. With the sun going down that was my last chance at having the most grip as I even noticed a change in my second run (nope, shaded corner doesn't have as much grip as the first run)

My apologies to anyone who had their delicate sensibilities offended by my choice of words when I realized I just got  aww never mind. There is always next year. :fight:  :fight:

How could riding in a car that's faster than a go cart be boring?

LOL

I had a great time! This was my second event with SCCA, and the first(and only) event at Pellissippi. My tires couldn't get enough heat built up to get any grip. The truck was very loose in all the corners. I'm definitely gonna try to get some racing seats, and some sort of better shocks this winter. I also need a different accessory drive system with a Corvette power steering pump. My pump is going bad and it starts screaming bloody murder when the fluid warms up. lol I started out with a 72.498 and ended with a 70.252 on my final run. Still room for improvement(mainly with the driver mod), but not bad for a 48 year old pickup with lowered stock suspension. ;) ;)

Hey if nothing else, I think you win the prize for coolest "car" at the event. That truck is just gorgeous.

Wow, Thanks!! After it being a daily driver for about 6 years, I originally built the truck as a show vehicle. After a few years of that, I started getting bored with shows. I'd have fun driving to and from the show, but not much fun while I was there. I really don't get excited about trophies and such. I just want to enjoy my truck. It's always so much fun to drive, so why not autocross it?
