Hall of Shame #12
Hall of Shame #12
Good weather, a monster straight, and excellent meter position for the final event - the last best readings you'll get from pelli...
1- XP45 - Brian Robbins - 96.3, 101.7 / insert augers / 94.3, 95.6 - Brian requested a review as to why he did not get a warning before he got a DNF for 101.7 - it was generally my policy to avoid issuing DNFs, and rather send people home to fix their cars. But eventually you end up needing to issue some DNFs.
Also consider - guidance offered from the last "monster straight" we ran at pelli: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=10073
2- DP48/148 - Dave Yoder - 93.9, 99.6, 90, 100.2 / 94.9, 97.1, 93.3 - This car would not have been at the event with a 93db limit (or at least - "not for long")
3- PSSM96 - Eric Anderson - 93.8, 94.8, 95.0, 97.8, 97.2 - This car was not going to be at the event for 93db.
4- XP106 - Jim Simmons - 95.8, 95.8, 95.5, 96.1, 97.0 - This car was not going to be at the event for 93db.
5- STM45 - Rick Roth - 89.7, 94.0, 95.6, 91.5, 95.1 - This car would have had to do exhaust work for 93db or go home.
6- FS23 - Stephen Vrooman - 95.0, 95.0, 93.1, 93.4, 94.2 - This car had augers tested and ready for 93db.
7- CSP55 - Mike Burke - 93.6, 91.6, 91.7, 92.0, 91.5 - I would have let this go as an outlier after final review...
8- CAMC99 - Jon Coatney - 91.8, 92.7, 93.1, 93.3 - Jon was going to be my official 93.0 db placeholder for meter position - looks like I missed it by 3/10ths...
9- PAS47 - Dave Disney - 92.3, 93.1, 91.8, x
10- PSTR37 - The Rays - 90.4, 91.8, 91.7, 91.8, 92.1 / 90.6, 91.0, 92.0, 92.7
11- SS34/134 - Paul McFall - 91.6, 92.0, 90.3, 90.8, 91.2 / 90.1, 91.5, 92.1, 91.7
12- AS51/151 - The Fords - 88.3, 89.2, 89.1, 89.2, 89.4 / 91.1, 90.9, 88.6, 91.7, 90.0 - The 91s are listed by Ted as a "burble" and would have been disregarded.
13- PESP99/199 - JY Cox - x , 90.5, 86.9, 90.0 / 90.0, 91.0, 91.3, 90.4
14- AM1 - Mike Kelly - 88.2, 89.8, 89.8, 90.4, 88.9, 90.4 - Several reruns, and I have video evidence of wheelspin past the meter pretty much every run...(GPS speedo vs tach)
15- CAMC44 - Eric Couch - 89.9, 89.0, 89.7, 90.3
Sound nazi's first six-pack award goes to, heh, the sound nazi - For spinning tires past the meter, pointing his turnouts at the meter, and still being quieter than OEM Corvettes (and so-called stock miatas - Eric Anderson, lol)
JY is on the 6-pack list too (I guess Lin will have to drink that) - For spending money to meet a sound limit that we never got to try.
Jon Coatney for going above and beyond the call with his exhaust system earlier in the season / all season.
The Vroomans for having augers ready to go, and for their assistance with sound + testing.
Honorable mention to Paul McFall, The Rays, and Dave Disney who were headed for being reliable 93db placeholders (mostly only when I could catch a big enough straight on the Corvettes).
That is all - the "hall of shame" is now (mostly) out of business.

What are the sound policies gonna be at Bristol and Smokies? The STU 350Z I'm building will probably be loudish - on the edge of 97 I'd guess

Can't hear the miata on the track, time to replace the muffler with a resonator again!

As a point of reference. Similar speed from Adessa and the car hasn't been touched from that event to this one. Actually hadn't even been out of the trailer.

Re: Hall of Shame #12
I still want to know (no, really - nod nod wink wink) what changed on the car between August 28th (mid to upper 80s without the SuperTrapp) and Huntsville that put you at this level at Huntsville and Adesa (and pelli event #12)...
As in - the car we heard at pelli in the mid to upper 80s August 28th shouldn't have needed the SuperTrapp and 6db to run at Huntsville...eunos735 wrote:
The Supertrap quieted the car 6db At Huntsville 3 or so weeks ago.

Not a single thing has changed.
And Huntsville has a odd acoustical scape with metal bleachers and whatnot.
at Nationals...the car was high 80's low 90's/

Re: Hall of Shame #12
Mark and I went over to the apartments to listen for several runs during run group 2 and we heard just as much noise from the parkway as was coming from our event. I wished we could have gotten some one from pelli if they were there to go over and listen to it as well, but maybe we can get back in the door at a later date when the trees grow a little more. lol
