Need advice on Mustang GT exhaust change

Post by djrogers1 »

My 2016 GT is a little too quiet for my liking and the OEM mufflers create significant backpressure, or so I have read. I am looking at some axle-back options, two from SLP - the LoudMouth 1 & 2. Stranoparts lists the 1, but not the 2, but I have found the 2 on CJ Pony Parts. The 1 has muffler-delete and is somewhat louder than the 2, which has some straight-through mufflers; I have not found any data on dB levels for either. Stranoparts also lists an axle-back from Magnaflow with mufflers for almost double the money of the LM series. The LM are 2.5-inch diameter, which I believe is the same as OEM, but the Magnaflow are 3" diameter.

Anyone have experience with these or have other recommendations?

I know we are not at Pelli anymore, but I still don't want to be on the sound limit wherever we are.

Thanks!

Send Sam an email and ask him what each one would do as far as sound and see if any performance gain although I don't think you will get any gain from mufflers.

Thanks, JY. I have sent the email as you suggested. I had sent him one a few days ago looking for suggested mods for FS, but have not heard back. Any idea how quickly he usually responds?

He is out west in California and should be back this week as I have him looking for something for my car as well. He will respond pretty quickly once he gets home.

FYI, Sam had some issues in California and won't likely be responding to emails for another few days. I think he's coming back on Wednesday now.
