Looking for a couple of Chiefs for Solo events

Post by MARKP »

We are in need of a couple of leaders to step up. Have you been thinking you would like to do a little more within the club? This might be for you.

We need a Chief of Grid and a Chief of Workers. This doesn't mean you need to do those jobs each time. It is actually much more and less. We would rely on you to know your chosen job like the back of your hand. We would also rely on you to train a small group of other people to know the job equally as well. The end result being that you or someone in your group always gets the job done without the event chair or someone else having to wonder if it is getting done or not. The Chiefs are the people that, together, ensure our events run as efficiently as possible. They know their jobs, do them well, and always look for ways to improve the operation.

What's in it for you (other than the satisfaction of knowing you are helping your club succeed)? You get a fancy bright green/yellow ETR shirt! You always know what your work assignment will be! Trump says you even get access to the extra funds left over from Mexico's payment to build the wall! I have heard you will be on the short list to receive a medal from Obama!

Please post up here if you are interested in either position or if you have questions on what the job entails. :)

I don't have any experience with either position but would be willing to learn.

Yes at the awards gizmo Jeff came to me and stated he wanted to be the new HMFIC of the equipment. I told him I would instruct in every way. We however need a few more to help in this operation. It involves a bit more than timing set up.Seems to change from event to event. So at our first event if anyone wants to be on Jeff's team you need you need to show up and be loyal for our events. I would be more than welcome to assist for a few events. And a second note if you are a station worker you need to watch behind the cars so you do not miss a cone that was or was not knocked out of the box. Meaning stop the BS at worker stations. Plus it could save your life.

So I'm thinking once we get to an event how long will it be before we know the course and what positions will be called corners and slalom checker positions? This alone would help a lot in planning worker positions. Will event course maps be made before the event? So maybe a bit of planning could be done before?

Bob brings up a great point. If we had a course design map ahead of event course setup speed may be improved.

Most of the ETR course designers get a basic idea of what they want to do and massage it while doing setup. I know for me, course maps would be more confusing than not having them since the actual course is typically different.
