Cam tires

Post by thewelder »

A friend has a 680whp mustang and is looking for a sticky street tire. Doesn't care about wear. But needs to work on a heavy high horsepower car. Thanks.

If he's not auto crossing I would try a drag radial. No street tire will hook up with that much HP. If he needs 200 TW then I would say Rival S. I need to make sure I can get 315's on my 12" wheels and if so I am going to sell two 335/30/18 Rival S and go back to a square setup on my car. They only have 4 or 5 events on them. PM me if interested.

I think a 12 inch rim will be too wide for a 315 rival s, some tires don't like to be stretched. I do think the rival s is one of those tires, but it is not like the A-7 335 where it likes to be just a little pinched, at least it works better on my car a little pinched than on a really wide rim.

285 40 18 Front and a 305 40 18. That is the sizes he is thinking of now.

I would highly recommended a square setup. I've had 4 sets of tires on my Mustang and it was best on 275 Bridgestones all the way around. The other 3 sets were staggered and the car pushes really bad.

He runs a 9.5 rim. So he can't run 335.

Yeah, that's just going to be frustrating to try and go fast. I would do the 275 or 285 Bridgestone for that size wheel all the way around.
