ETR #1 Course Designer

Post by thrdeye »

Hi there. As evidenced in this thread, several folks were interested in helping design courses.

Anyone want to take a stab at ETR #1 at Smokies and submit a sketch for me to look over?

Please note, that site is NOT a minimum distance site. Due to the approach to some of the curbs, we need a little extra room there to try to minimize potential issues. I know we can't avoid it is some spots but where we can, we need to.

Avoiding that bump is the key. Car needs to either be perfectly straight, or going slow. For the event where my car ended up on the curb, another 20 feet probably wouldn't have saved Brian Hatten's Porsche. Luckily he got it between the islands.

JB is certainly the easy button, but that doesn't do much for getting new folks to learn the ropes.

Remember, we could start down in the holler, finish up top. Not sure how the folks in the house would feel about the launch's. :?

Just to keep every thing on the same level lets just do it as the first on site and bitch about it while we are building it.Then we can change it and have a piss fit as to why we did what we did. Then every thing else is delayed and we keep going on with our day. And keep bitching about a Mustang-vs- Miata course. but now is a Focus to decide what happens. boy oh boy!!!

I wish this forum had a 'like this post' feature. I think Bob would have the most.

Not gonna attempt to design a course. After attempting with a template of Pelli in the past the job was much more of a challenge than I expected. After that I never bitched about a course design again, unless I lost, then I of course I bitched.

Check out some of the build.

the Focus gives no shits about how the course is laid out...
