Got me some new wheels and tires coming and plan to haul them to events, so I need a floor jack for the 2016 Mustang GT. Looking for low-profile, lightweight, and not too pricey. Brand, model, and source would be good to have. Thanks!

I've been using one of these for many years:
http://www.harborfreight.com/2-ton-alum ... 62247.html

Be sure to get a jack stand to go with it, no matter what brand jack you end up with.

Edited to add: They also have 1.5 and 3 ton models

I was just looking at that exact one on their web site. Most reviews are 5*, but a few said it failed after only a few uses. It is on sale, so that is tempting. I'll wait a little while longer to see if others chime in. Thanks!

It's cheap Chinese stuff for sure, but mine has been working great for ten years. If they fail, it will generally be like any other simple hydraulic system and can be repaired with a few new o-rings. If you hang on to the receipt, you can probably swap it out if it fails.

I've got the Craftsman aluminum floor jack and it has treated me well. Not sure about the lightweight aspect.

I had one of the harbor freight / Pep Boys specials and it failed on me. I had jack stands supporting the car so no harm no foul.

HF seems to be the gold standard for cheap jacks. They're on sale more often than not, I have seen that one as low as $65.

+2 for jack stands!

I have had 3 from harbor and all 3 have not lasted a full season. I have an all star racing jack a little pricey but really good jack.

If you think you will be using it a lot, I would spend a little more to get a good one. Mine gets used a lot and is a really good one.

I got a HF American General or something around '03 or '04. It has been good, though it seems to get rattled apart whenever it travels in a tire trailer or hatch of a trailered car.

I love the harbor freight aluminum jack. Super light. Breaks down easy for hauling in trunk. 1.5 ton capacity. Mine is 3 years old and works great. Get the light weight matching jack stands. It goes on sale all the time. Got it for like 49.00.
