Official Rules Drag Cross

Post by Gen52SS »

NEW RULES are here.

SEDiv are adding 3 parts to the event, "SET DIAL IN" part. We will do 2 runs on each course to "SET DIAL IN" THEN there will be Qually. top 10 from each group advances (and 2 random) to the Elimination rounds. Times in Qually are the fast times with your Dial in added.

Official rules BELOW.

CASH CROSS SUPPLEMENTAL REGULATIONS
All SCCA Solo rules are in effect except as explained below:

FORMAT DRAGCROSS
Asymmetrical courses with a 5-7 second time difference.
The event has 3 parts: Setting Dail in, Qualifying and Eliminations.

Setting the Dial in
3 run/ work groups of 26 drivers, groups will be determined by random draw. (red chip, blue chip green chip)
You get 2 runs per side to set your “dial in”.
CONES DO NOT COUNT, SETTING YOUR DIAL IN.
YOUR DIAL IN is the Best time from each side combined.

Qualifying:
Run pairings will be determined by the same random draw (#20 redchip will run with the other #20 redchip)
Run parings number will determine your grid position.
2 runs perside WITH YOUR DIAL IN added
Hit Cones are a standard 2 second penalty.
DNFs (Did not finish) get a automatic time of 999.99
TOP 10 will be determined by the fastest combined time from each course with your DIAL IN added.
TOP 10 from each rung group will advance to the Elimination ROUND
2 drivers will be picked randomly to complete the Top 32.
If any competitor “BUSTS OUT” a new Dial In will be assigned provided they have not gone beyond the *1.5 second rule.

Eliminations
SINGLE ELIMINATIONS
Run pairings again will be determined by color poker chip draw. The Top qualifier will pull a chip first,
and then go in sequential order, until all drivers are paired.
There will be 2 groups of 16 drivers.
Each run group will produce one “winner” and the winner of each run group will race each other for
The SEDIV CHAMPIONSHIP of the event. The other drivers will compete for podium positions.
Hit Cones are a standard 2 second penalty.
If both competitors cone/DNF, the competitor that had the penalty first loses.
Each pairing in each round will make one run in each lane.
The round winner is the competitor who run closet to their DIAL IN from the two runs.
If any competitor “BUSTS OUT” a new Dial In will be assigned provided they have not gone beyond the *1.5 second rule.
Bye Runs must be run. This ensures the same amount of wear on every competitors vehicle.
Starting Procedure will be a traditional drag race start with a Drag Tree. We will pull two cars up at a time, then the drivers
will set the pre stage and stage lights. Yellow lights will start and the drag race begins on the green.
RED LIGHTS will be automatic DNF.
Re-runs will only be granted if both drivers have clean runs. Jump starts, cone calls,
and DNFs override a re-run situation.
Red Flag Procedure: If a red flag is called, then both courses are red flagged. If a red flag is due to the result of a
disqualifying infraction, the opposite side automatically wins. If the red flag is for a situation other than a
disqualifying infraction, the race is re-run.
Trophies will be awarded for the following:
OVERALL WINNER 1st place 1000.00 (just before nationals) FIRST LOSER 2nd place 750.00
LOW MAN ON PODIUM 3rd place 500.00 CONSOLATION PRIZE 4th place 300.00
2 qualifier bonuses will be awarded at 150.00 each. Bonuses will be determined by the PAX INDEX.
PAX INDEX IS USED FOR THE BONUS CASH not to determine any official order or results.
Two driver cars: Two driver cars ARE allowed. If a two driver comes up against each other in a bracket,
the faster driver decides if they want to run first or second. Then both drivers will make solo runs on each
course and results will be figured as normal. 3-5 mins cool down time will be enforced.
SANDBAGGING:
Is not encouraged, to prevent this we have initiated the blind draw at Eliminations During eliminations you improve your
time by over 1.5 seconds from your dial in time you will be DSQed.
Lastly there is a 2-3 panel of officials that if deemed Sandbagging runs will be taken by the officials in
YOUR car to set a base time, if that base time is faster than the drivers times, panel will determine if sandbagging is
happening and your times will be wiped and asked to try again.

Ok, I'm confused by the qualifying round still. The way I read it is you will run 2 runs on each course, your fastest time on each course will be added to your dial in time from each course and then the top 10 fastest are advanced? Correct me if I'm wrong.

But if I'm reading that right are we paxing those times or something? Because if not then we're still going off raw times and some people still don't have a chance of making the elimination round.

Your morning runs will be 2 on each and your fastest time from each side will be added together and that is your dial in so if you ran a 34 on the left and a 29 on the right and a 73 is your dial in. When you run in the qual rounds you will run to try and be right on top of your dial in and or break out just barely. You hope to be closer to your dial in than the person you are running against or if you both break out, you hope to break out more than they do without going over the 1.5 rule and you move on. Does this help you understand how it is going to work?
