BMS ETR#5

Post by thrdeye »

Good job everyone! Everybody was running behind and we still got 6 runs and done early.

Great course Mark. Awesome example of minimal cone useage!

Anyone have any good video? I'll have some posted shortly. I'm finding it a good learning aid to compare runs.

I didn't run any for this event, but Chris did use solo storm for his runs.

Course was challenging. I'm not sure if it was still a bit of an autocross hangover from Spring Nats, but I just couldn't execute the way I wanted all day. I finally got a run I liked on the 6th run, a 41.9, but I clipped a cone in the transitions before the last turn around. It is a good feeling that I can have an off day and it won't be an automatic drop. Pro class has been nuts every event this year.

Also, the area where we launched was super grippy. First run, I launched at about 4800-5000 and bogged.

I should have some video later tonight. ....If I don't fall asleep while editing it....lol

Great course, it was a lot of fun. I liked changing it up and using the new pavement area for something different than the usual turn around.

Was a really fun day.

My fastest run. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdOdDNsu0f4

EDIT: The beginning was awesome and made for my favorite Bristol course that I've ran there.

Great course and weather, it was great seeing everyone again. It had been too long with the Z parked/being worked on. Found some speed on runs 5-6, Marcus and I are both knocking rust off still. Crazy close in Pro this weekend though, really have to have an excellent run in an excellent car to win anymore.

Here is my fastest run (top) compared against my next fastest run (bottom) in which I made some obvious mistakes:

Just for fun, my fastest run (top) vs my first/slowest run (bottom).

I know I left at least a second out there. I needed to be closer to the cones in the first slalom and I was never tight enough on the big sweeper. I also question my entry into the mid course offset and the Chicago box.

Any input would be appreciated.... you ain't gonna hurt my feelings.

It was great to be back out there and to see everyone! I really like BMS a lot more than Smokies site, hah. Lots of time left out there for me since I was getting faster after each run. It's a shame I coned every single run, lol.

I'm not sure if this is right or wrong as our cars are obviously very different, but...

I was wider in the first sweeper setting up for the open slalom, I was tighter on slalom exit, I was wider on entry to the Chicago box, and I was a bit wider on the last turn around.

Thanks, I think making those changes would have probably improved my times.

Glad to hear everyone anjoyed the course. I wanted to do something different but still incorporate some things that you might see on 4th of July weekend. I was thinking about what to do for about a week. [emoji38]
