Re: ETR 2017 Regional #6 Debrief
I'm getting a bit frustrated with the vette. I don't know if I'm just not getting enough heat in the tires early or what, but it seems like I can't ever put down a proper time before 4 to 5 runs in it. I can't remember the last car I ran at events where I was routinely around 2 seconds off after 2 or 3 runs compared to the last runs. It's good when the car is working right, but sometimes it seems to just do things that I don't understand like just not turn in or have the rear step out really unexpectedly or hit ice mode.

Not it! Those were there from the start.
Re: ETR 2017 Regional #6 Debrief
Those were mine and they were there to keep drivers from going on the wrong side and putting them to close to the little hut and concrete hump near there. Didn't bother me though, not sure why but knew it was just a gate.
Edit, pretty sure the match tour last year had the same thing.

That's pretty crazy what a difference a few feet can make. I was driving the same line you were thinking I could carry more speed through the turn and be set up straighter for the long run back towards grid.disneyd wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2017 8:36 am Hey Cathers, you were right about the big sweeper in the back. I was pretty even with you going out and then lost the vast majority of my time to you by going too wide in that big turn. Not sure if downshifting to first in the exit helped me much... maybe a tiny bit. Cutting distance wins again.

The other thing is that if you got out there in the second run group especially, then you're going to hit some marbles. Any turn greater than 120* or so and adding distance almost never wins, even more so in a car that can dig like a Corvette

Yep, spot on. I added distance and was in the marbles, so I had no grip on top of the extra distance and couldn't put any power down. James went much faster (mph) than me by taking the tight line. Added up to close to a second of time lost.
I did sync up our exit from the start of the turn, and shifting to first gained me about .2 (I hit the lights about 6mph faster).

I think you could have also cut the entry and exit distance on the last turn before the lights. You were about 3 feet off both. No reason not to be all over that one since that turn is soooo slow. James did it too. I bet that was another .200

I think I found another thing to improve on. Guess who's throttle trace is who's:
Lots of little things add up. Ignore the percentages at the top... that's just sitting at the line idle (raw TPS, so I can't calibrate it to 0 and 100%).

I was super aggressive about being tight on the finish.... and really everywhere I could.

Steve, were you a lot tighter on the finish and in the turn around sweeper at the back of the course? Also, I'm thinking you were faster going out right before the turn around sweeper in the back?

If your throttle traces are accurate, I was in the throttle earlier on the sweeper on the back. I cut distance on the right hander leading into the fast stuff, but I'm not sure you weren't better there. I was fighting the car. I was in the throttle earlier on the showcase turn and just letting the car push and then I was tighter at the finish. I was tight enough that I had to take care to not clip inside cones, and I did cone there at least once.Kinetic wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2017 9:31 pm Here's my best of the day, 49.895 (run 6).
