My drive home was eventful. Due to the on track body work/modification... I discovered that the underbelly blew off over bout 85mph. Scared the $hit our of me!!

I couldnt pull it off,so I zip tied and crammed it up in there... and after 3 times, I discovered that I could only go 65mph.. Thats a long drive at 65..

Course was purt damm good! little visually freeky going out.. I discovered that I could flat it, goin out past the first salom.. and flat it, coming back after the downhill turn.. pretty fun!

I also switched back to my DD Hankooks for my last run.. and I was impressed! I carried so much more speed into the far turn around... I ICE moded right out past the exit cone. The grip was seat of the pants better that the RE71s but they are from last November.. I dont know if thats a part of it or not.

With courses like that and getting 6+ runs.. That makes it worth driving 90 minutes to an event.

I really liked that course. I thought the back section wasn't going to drive very well after watching lots of folks go off-course, but when I got back there it flowed pretty well for me. That off-camber section at the start of the back sweeper was interesting in a solid rear axle kart. Except for terrible brake issues, I thought I gave it everything I had but got smoked in Pro this time.

Now let's hope we have similar conditions for this weekend...

Thanks to all who liked the course. I put it down on Saturday feeling sick as a dog and just wanted something that wasn't going to be close to what we will be running this weekend and it turned out to be very fun in my car. It flowed better going out than I thought it would as when I walked in Sunday morning I wasn't sure it would but it turned out good and coming down after the first sweeper into the middle section was very fun and fast. JY, something you might try next time is to not to put pointers on the outside of a turn. If you keep the pointers on the inside of turns, it helps a lot visually. I know that with novices there are sometimes that we might need to put pointer on the outside, but I think in this course on the way out, it added a lotta noise in the scenery.

It was good though. Reminded me of some of the long runs out of the turnarounds at Dixie.

Actually, the pointers I put down were necessary after a 50% DNF rate back there early in the first heat. But they were only directional toward the severe offsets people were missing, not on the outside of a gate.

Interesting point. We put data in Rife's car and compared to my runs. Because of gearing, he had 5-7 MPH on me in the fastest section of the course going out. I couldn't get to 3rd and then back down to second again for the hard left offset wall so I was stuck on my limiter for 3-4 seconds on the way out while he is still accelerating. I should have tried carrying 3rd.

So Steves car is that much faster on the limiter than yours in 2nd?? wow

Hey Cathers, you were right about the big sweeper in the back. I was pretty even with you going out and then lost the vast majority of my time to you by going too wide in that big turn. Not sure if downshifting to first in the exit helped me much... maybe a tiny bit. Cutting distance wins again.

I think Chris was talking about the gates with pointers on both sides and not those.

Personally, it was a little tough visually. I had to tell myself to stop looking ahead until I got to the offsets just before the sweeper turnaround.

I think we saw a 57.1 mph peak for me.

Also, FWIW, I was leaving it in 2nd coming back and Kevin was going to 3rd and getting 5-6 more mph than me. I don't even know how he was shifting because my elbows were flying from the sweeper to halfway through the slalom.

Yeah there was once section that was two gates that were aligned in a way that made them a slalom. So you have 4 cones and they all had pointers on them. Once you were "in it" it was fine.

I needed more course walks.....
