Well, they don't work at all if the class hasn't run yet so between that and the ones that are actually links not looking like links has confused a lot of people.

Thanks!

This is what it takes to win ES...

I was about 1.1 off pace on the West with an ice mode/blown brake zone and a missed 2-3 before the finish, so I'm encouraged about that, but I've got nothing for Michael on the east course. I drove really poorly but can't really conceive getting close to his time.

I'm afraid to say that, after watching several vids at several events of the top ES cars, I think running locals might be detrimental to my nationals effort. :(

Yes, Bristol gets you closer to that level, but I think if you're looking to win at Lincoln, you need big spaces, and concrete.
I plan on running a number of national events next year, and run some other regions to hopefully find some SSR competition and some other surfaces to get better. Probably won't run any Smokies events next year, and just go to Bristol when I do etr events.

It's such a crazy "next level" vibe you get when you run with the class of the class at events and even at local events where you get super good talent, not everyone I'd able to translate the driving style from blacktop top concrete and vice versa.

Es was one of those fun to watch classes this past week. Big classes with talent in them are always fun to watch.

The courses were very different from what we run locally. Almost all of it was speed maintenance. They were more similar to what many would consider some of our "less fun" courses.

It isn't so much the elements or adjusting your driving, it is car set up.

If I stick with ES, I may only run the car on concrete and look for a local co-drive. Not sure if that is a good strategy or not.

Rife I think you guys were scratching your head at Ron's run the same way we were at McCelvey. Despite how I finished up in class, I cannot conceive finding another 1.4 seconds on the west course. Truly mind boggling.

I want to see his 40.4 vid from the Finale. I thought my dirty low 41's didn't have much meat on the bone.

Less fun courses?

I thought they were the best pair of courses I have seen at Nationals and every piece of feedback I have seen thus far has been positive.

They were both very well balanced. They has speed maintenance sections, power sections, High speed sweepers, transitions.....I don't think either one of them favored one car over another.

While the courses this year were better than the past 3 years, they were far from being good in respect to the number of competitors that talked to me about courses for next year. The west course had one line for better than 75 % of the course. The number of DNF's on the west course was very high on Tues, Wed. compared to the last 3 years as I watched the better part of each of the run groups first two runs. I did have some competitors say they did like both of the courses for the first time in years, but I do think they were better than the past few years, but could have been better with visuals on the west. My first walk I turned and made the statement that a record number of DNF's would happen, not sure if they did have a true record of DNF's on the west course but it could have been far better in my opinion.

I think every single person that commented on the courses to me said it was the best pair they've ran at nats. I'm not sure I'd say that, but they were probably my 2 favorites I've ran this year. I definitely preferred them to anything we can get at Smokies.

I got a super late DNF on the West, but it was from after the finish and dumb. We had many in my work station, but people kept turning right immediately at the lights. I think people were trying to game the angled lights and outsmarted themselves.
