Solo Storm help

Post by Challenger »

Does anyone else using Solo Storm routinely have problems with the GPS track not always lining up? This is the third time I've used it now where at least 1 of 3 runs is a complete outlier on the track. Not sure if it's normal, something I'm not doing right, a bad unit or interference from the car or somewhere else. Kinda screws up looking at the data when one run is 4 seconds different than another because the track is off.

Are you using the GPS on your phone or an external receiver?

External receiver I got as a package deal when I got the software.

I have trouble every now and then, but rarely. Turn on the GPS at least an hour before you run. This way it can pick up as many satellites as possible. Also keep in mind that at a place like Bristol, the grandstands and hills can block a lot of satellites if they are lower on the horizon, which would make things spotty.

Are you running it outside the car or inside? I had some issues when I was trying to use it inside the car, but if I duct tape it to the outside of the car I don't have any issues. The manual also recommends that you turn the GPS on and leave it on as soon as you reach the site for maximum accuracy.

I'm running it outside. And turning it on sooner may have been the issue. Before I had turned it on right as I was taking the car to grid. Yesterday I turned it on during first run group when I ran second and it seems to have worked perfectly.
