Regional 8 After-Action Discussion
Re: Regional 8 After-Action Discussion
While I do agree with that Dave, when we only have 2 run groups we have to take a small break and the vendor at BMS would probably stop coming if we didn't support them in some way. I think the best way is to say 15 minutes and then we hope they get back in the 30 minutes that we had planned on giving them in the first place.

As far as Bristol goes... If our only choices are Bristol and Smokies, I say we have them all at Bristol if possible. The drive sucks for those of us that were used to having Pellissippi practically in our back yard, but Smokies just has too many issues.
On a organizational note, lets not ever say we're taking a break/lunch/etc between heats. People scatter to the winds and it is a real pain to get the workers back and the next heat started no matter what time you tell them to return.
Edit: I tried to highlight the smokies just has too many issues part but it didn't work. That is the plus 1000 times part.

It was good to see the old girl out there tearing it up again... and great times set on those rally-car intermediate hoosiers you were on, Ted throw some MG greens on her and you'll have to come run Pro in that thing.

BTW, congrats to Steve Rife! I am pretty sure it's mathematically impossible for anyone to catch him now, even if he had to keep his 95.52

Re: Regional 8 After-Action Discussion
It is as John or Randy had to win the last 3 events to have been able to beat Steve. Several class champions were decided at event 8.
Edit: 10 classes have already been locked up at event 8 and 4 are still up in the air and 4 more may get a class champion if those that are leading get enough events to qualify. JY

My math says that you can win the last 2 events and shut me out and beat me 597.45 to 597.15.
...so if someone wants to beat Chris at the last 2 events, that'd be cool.

Wait, so it's 5 to qualify and best 6 count? I missed that!
I thought it was 6/7

Oh snap. Well, tires should still be fresh after nationals and I have rains. Let's do this.
It looks like one 99.55 point even and Rife clinches, regardless of anything else.

I'm purdy proud of this run.. was my 5th so it didn't count, but matched that +2 third run and I had Dave in the car for this one.

I figgered out earlier this afternoon that I didn't have enough drops left with the remaining to to compete for the Pro win :/ one of these years I'll give it an honest go... hopefully. Gotta stop missing events.

Re: Regional 8 After-Action Discussion
Big thanks once again to both Michael and Jim for taking me and Deonna on as last minute co-drivers after we picked up that screw in the tire! Was a lot of fun driving the Camaro around the same course that I'd driven mine on and seeing the differences. One thing's for sure the Camaro was a LOT easier to get through that finish. Here's my best (+1):

What was the general consensus on the way grid was set up this time? I talked to a couple people from first run group and got positive feedback. Chris and I talked about trying that after seeing it done in Toledo. Except for the truck that was parked in the middle for the first run group I think it gave us more room and made getting in and out of spots easier.

I thought the grid worked well considering all the restrictions we had with the construction.

Re: Regional 8 After-Action Discussion
Loved the course both times I was able to drive it; the high speed offsets and run going out were a lot of fun! Bristol is nice to have with the ability to incorporate all of those high-speed elements.
Incredible driving Cathers; I can't believe how close you are to those cones. And good job with the borrowed car Vrooman.
Here's my best attempt with a terrible missed shift and grind into second...was about 6 mph slower at the end of the slalom compared to my other runs. Finally figured out how to launch the car I hope.
