Adesa, Saturdays and Schedules
Adesa, Saturdays and Schedules
Didn't want to hijack the existing thread for Event 10, but
Did we lose the Adesa location permanently? or just this year?
I actually pretty bummed that we aren't there this year--
Not because I think Adesa is better location, it isn't.-(BMS is only 20 min away and a much better lot)
But because Adesa events have usually been held on Saturdays
I realize the venue change was probably last minute, but ETR has so few Saturday events; I was looking forward to it.
The beginning of the season, I had the two Saturday events circled on my calendar.-- the May event at BMS and Adesa
I went to and participated in the BMS event despite the threat of rain and people flipping out over the fact that we ran the dragway parking lot instead of our usual lot.
I even ran the DragCross event despite the steeper entry fee and the ... lively... discussion over the dial in time and the 1.5 sec rule because it was on a Saturday.
I had a blast at both events and would love to run more, but family and church obligations eliminate most Sunday events.
Unfortunately, I will probably close the season with another club (CCR) despite the long drive.
I don't know the details of how the schedule is set, but perhaps having a few more Saturday events would attract new members/participants, and in turn grow the club.
I'm sure there are others who are unable to run Saturday events, but a little variety may be helpful.
CCR seems to attract good crowds for both their Saturday and Sunday events.
Not trying to create trouble, just an observation.
Good luck to everyone on the 24th and have fun.

More Saturday events would be cool with me.... then you have Sunday to chill out and rest up for Monday.
Not an issue with BMS, but a lot of it depends on site availability. Some aren't available on Saturdays.

Re: Adesa, Saturdays and Schedules
I hear you on church. I go whenever I'm not autocrossing. When I have an event, I try to go to a Saturday service or watch the webcast.
I used to work 1-3 Saturdays a month and work super late on Fridays. I just now started working Mon-Thurs and going in super early on Monday.... so Saturday events are more appealing than they were in the past. With that said, I think a lot more of our membership work on Saturday than work on Sunday.

I don't mind Saturday events. It can make Friday evening a bit of a hustle if I have to get stuff together or have plans on Friday night. Otherwise, having Sunday open is pretty cool.

Either day is ok with me as long as we have a place to run and I can try to compete.

Re: Adesa, Saturdays and Schedules
Is definitely like to have more Saturday events. Not saying that we should nix Sunday events by any means, but a few more Saturday events would be nice

Re: Adesa, Saturdays and Schedules
Sundays are easier for me (us), but I'm OK with either day (or both).
Re: Adesa, Saturdays and Schedules
Don't care either way - I'm a Monday - Friday worker and a heathen (I'm either running or sleeping in Sunday mornings).
Seems like whenever this come up, we have just as many folks that have work conflicts as religious conflicts. We also add in the added headache of dealing with UT football games (traffic) with our last events.
A mix would also work for me.

Re: Adesa, Saturdays and Schedules
In this limited place and location, for us to run a Saturday seems like a win. Why not? Planning ahead is key to these days. You end up with a day off before going back to work for the most of us. So if one comes up just plan ahead, we give a week or more notice.
