I always giggle a little when everyone screams for a spec class then they complain about the result. I think this class will have some great competition on a national level for about 3 years.

Oh, I think it is a great concept. I'm just not sure I'll like that particular tire. ...and I was really hoping for the Rival S, so you don't have to deal with spraying.

Hopefully people don't benefit from shaving these.

Spending the money to prep one for SSC and getting out rawed by the same car in lesser prepped DS because of the tire would be no fun to me. Time will tell I guess.

I seem to remember Andy Hollis posting something about these being the same compound as a Z2 Star Spec (owned by same parent company afterall). Apparently they had GRM do a test on which one of them performed better. The older Dunlop did despite being the same tire underneath. They never published it after finding those results.

From what people are saying, the driving characteristics are nothing like the Dunlops.

Also, with people running in Cali last week, SSC looks like it is going to get hammered in PAX results.

Looking at more results and SSC looks like it is about 1.5 seconds off pace on PAX for a minute course. :?

I remember the days when I first ran where that was THE tire to have for a street tire at local events

I remember when I first started... Hoosier Autocrossers and BFG R1s were the street tire to have. [emoji16]

I've never really driven a twin, though SSC seems like quite a fun class with the car and mods! And I like the idea of a low cost tire.

I would enter the class if I already owned one and could race comfortably with a helmet in it.

I actually saw a set of those once. They were old and crusty. [emoji38]

My 2 event review....

Car is pretty fun.

It isn't as easy to drive as I anticipated. Overall grip is pretty low, the car moves around a lot, adjustments are counter-intuitive, and small adjustments make a big difference (moreso than most other cars that I've fooled with). If you make the wrong adjustment, you can make the car really bad. The tires are really sensitive to pressure and take a while to scrub in.

I think that doing well in these cars will be really rewarding.
