Don't expect sympathy from us because you brought a boat to an autocross.

It's not our fault you are trying to race a car that is heavier than our tow rigs ;)

From a small mod vehicle perspective, all of these courses are a blast. I have no complaints and I will agree with Eric that the last few (several?) years the speeds have escalated too far and this Champ course was a welcome change, rewarding hitting breaking and turning points more than the last few years at least (although last Spring Nats 2nd day Champ course had one of those breaking/turning points that really mattered). I think the shift in course design will lead us all back to where the sport should be - better control of the vehicles at varying speeds in various positions.

If the courses led back to small tight courses that require such slow speeds to get a bigger car thru, that will take me away from the sport! The courses will always be from a small car driver that they are too open and from a big car driver that they are too tight or if they are open enough to have fun and fun is what is all about. Having fun doesn't mean speeds of over 70 mph, but it does mean that the course FLOWS well and is fun. Tight courses have NEVER HAD A GOOD FLOW to them and are never fun to big car drivers. The difference in small cars is you all think a tight course flows and they don't in the big cars and the courses that flow to big cars are wide open to small cars drivers and that will always be the issue, but if it flows well I don't care how fast it is but going only 55 mph at any national course as the top speed will hurt the sport. At spring nationals one of guys from another region who has national events and usually is the course designer said it best, if you can't be full throttle in ever car at least 3 times on any national course, it is a bad design. I totally agree with that because driving around in a over 500 rwhp car is no fun at 1/3 throttle.

Yet at most BMS courses we have a brutal 20 MPH 180 degree or more turnaround. Just sayin'. :-)

Chris I agree, but if someone can come up with a better solution and be able to use the entire lot and have something more than a 30 second course, I am all for it.

I love fast flowing courses. I thought the '16 and '17 Blytheville courses were fun, but a bit too fast. All the transitions were flat for me. The '15 Wilmington course with the fast finish was too fast. I went through the lights in the red in 3rd in an ES car. The '16 Wilmington Saturday course was too fast. It was probably one of the least fun courses that I've ever driven. Absolutely 0 autocross elements in it. I was thinking about quitting autocross as I was on course because it was a total waste of space and a waste of an event.

I want to be able to have to balance throttle and turn the wheel and have the car move around a bit. And I don't want to have to have 300+ ft/lbs of torque to be able to do that.

Steve I get that and I want to be able to use more than 150 foot pounds of torque which is why the small car vs big car issue will never go away.

I guess I just didn't hear many people complain about the courses (outside of the Pro course always being the same shape and the visuals on Day 1 of the tour). I mean, you seem to like and be proud of the Bristol courses (and you should). I just don't think these courses were that different as far as speed.

I have done some at Bristol that were not and did not flow and I am probably in the top percentile of ones that travel to national events. The fort myers pro was a good course and Dixie was good IMO. Blytheville pro was not spring nats pro was not and day one spring nats was not as it was worse visually at spring nats than it was at 2017 nationals and even a national staff member than ran it said it was horrible and I am not the authority on courses, but I do know when it is painful to drive in my car. Day 2 of champ spring course could have been a lot better but if they had not removed those two cones that course would have been really painful and it was still plenty painful.
EDIT: There were plenty of people complaining about it which is why those 2 cones were removed and even after that there were still multiple national champions complaining about it.
