Today
Re: Today
IMO, the E92M3 felt more narrow than the GT500. However, the overall weight was definitely there especially on street tires and 18x9f/18x10r wheels.

Re: Today
There's nothing to back this up. Let's take the tire out of the equation
I encourage you "big car guys" to look at:
AS vs CS results for national events this year. Hint: it's pretty close most of the time. ~0.500 or so
- and then -
do the same for DSP/CSP vs. ESP Hint: The "power cars" don't usually keep up with the smaller cars.
All the transitional elements on the course were definitely "big car spacing" at 70 + feet. Ya'll just need to drive better.
Also, keep in mind what the rulebook says about autocross:
1.2.1 These events are run on short courses that emphasize car handling and agility rather than speed or power.

Re: Today
While I agree with that Chris, keep in mind that 1988 civics and 1990 miatas were the top dogs when those were written and they have been adjusted some but not in several years since the bigger more powerful cars have been coming out of Detroit. I get it that in a little car it doesn't feel like much but on event 8 with the 1/8 mile drag start...lol that it seemed like nothing but a power course except in the end a ES Miata paxed 3rd I think and ahead of the GT500. That type of course all year long at BMS has always shaken out to be fair as that same ES car finished 2nd in pro and beat the GT500 almost every event and I designed all those courses and the raw times were never as close as event 10 was.

Re: Today
I'm not sure the last course was really THAT different than other courses I've ran there. We had real slaloms (one had an importance entrance, the other really didn't) and you had to shut down at the end of the sweeper. The offsets were pretty typical. We still had the pair of 180's towards the entrance. I was still getting limiter. I asked Corey where he was getting 3rd and he said everywhere. It isn't like we were doing 35mph.

Re: Today
I didn't run video as it was dead but I would like to know how fast Jim and Randy got as Randy stated he had no where to let the big car eat as I know I didn't get to the upper part of second gear at all.

Re: Today
I hit 57 in the run going into the showcase....but that's my limiter in 2nd. I wasn't on it long so I'd guess with more gear I'd probably been somewhere around 62-63ish.

Re: Today
Looking at the rule book, 2.2 Course Safety and Layout, Section A, it says
"A. Courses must be tight enough so that cars run the entire course in their
lower gears. Speeds on straight stretches should not normally exceed the
mid-60s (mph) for the fastest Street and Street Touring® category cars."
So sounds like the course was about at the maximum speed the rules allow.

Re: Today
I don't think the complaint is the lack of some ridiculous top speed. I think the complaint is that the course was pretty input heavy.
My personal complaint is that I frequently run courses that do exceed those speeds in some of the slowest street and street touring cars.
