Today
Re: Today
Looking back at the super challenge winners and thinking about Steve saying most lower HP cars don't run them, the super challenge winners at each event for the year was event 1 a HS car and 2 a CS car and 3 was a ES car and 4 a SSC car and 5 a cam car and 6 a stx and 7 was stx and 8 was stx and 9 was a Kart and the finale a CS car so basically all lower hp cars won the super challenges which is a drag start and not using the rule of a 200 foot drag start before the first turn as Blytheville was probably about 90 feet before the first turn.

Re: Today
Are you making the argument that power isn't beneficial in accelerating from a stop? That was my point.
Super challenge is all about consistency and getting there is based off class competition. Also, you'll note that pro indexes are different and lower powered classes tend to have much softer PS indexes.

Re: Today
Not at all as power is a good thing on some courses, I was just referencing you saying lower hp cars don't tend to run pros and yes the pax is softer and being consistency as a driver is good but still almost all challenges was won by low hp cars....

Re: Today
You know that if you are in the challenge and you are a class winner, you're only trying to get close as possible or beat your own time right? It has zero to do with car size. edit: And if you're in the challenge but not a class winner, you're trying to meet that class winner's time.
If you are in bump class, R1, L, etc, then they apply the PSI to the heat competition times to generate winners and challenge brackets.

Re: Today
Yep I know it is class winners but if you go back 3 years or more it was an almost even split with challenge winners hp vs non hp cars but not as of late which means the pax is too soft imo

Re: Today
I could win a class of 5 and index 250th at the event and make the challenge, then win by dropping time. Outside of determining who makes the challenge in a few classes, index has nothing to do with winning the challenge.

Re: Today
Absolutely correct.
Looking at results, you would expect runs with small number statistics. I doubt there is enough data to conclude that there is a bias towards lower hp cars.

Re: Today
Well starting off from my first post, in this thread and I am not going to blame anyone else but me. I walked the course and did notice the new element as far as the big lefthander went more left. I was working tech and they never stopped coming. Bob and I kept doing tech until the last minute. I do not understand why as I have stated go and prep your car and come to tech inspection before you walk course or try to go to registration. And they keep doing just what is wrong. I hate to say but once tech is over why should we worry about who comes up next because you already walked five times and I have not walked due to you not going to tech and you try tech after tech has closed. Try again and you might not get to run because you decided to bypass tech inspection time frame. Oh news flash ,try after and you just go home. or watch. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

Re: Today
I doubt anyone walked the course 5 times before going through tech.
Also, registration gets a lot of folks that are going to register first because they don't have their class and number. We had an abnormally large number of walk ups last event.
