Had a Hoot, really not WTF on the DNF thing as crap happens. Glad no one needed the JAWS of life. Not sure why they had them out today. Wish we could have one more but oh well seein as we at one time had twelve but the loss of Pelli prob knocked that out.

So, I walked it once and hated the course. To the point that I coached myself up to not say anything negative if asked.
I walked it a 2nd time, looked at some lines, and liked it a lot more.
I enjoyed driving it, though a really tough course for an SSC car.

I agree that walking the course I wasn't enamored of it. But driving it, especially in the Miotter, was a ton of fun! The kart was just too loose and the tires too old to get good times.

I agree that walking the course I wasn't enamored of it. But driving it, especially in the Miotter, was a ton of fun! The kart was just too loose and the tires too old to get good times

The course rewarded car placement in big ways and punished in even bigger ways if you got it wrong, which is what I was going for. There was always room to run wider or gain room on entry if you wanted to. So you know, you actually had to put the car somewhere rather than going around a pin cone and mashing the throttle.
Both slaloms were wide open. I didn't get to test it before we drove, or I would have eased the entry to the first slalom just a little (2 feet). Otherwise, it's about what I envisioned.
Anyway, I'm not going to get into big car vs little car arguments again with course design. We have old threads for that. Middle of 3rd gear in a 150 HP car is not autocross. Be glad to do courses again if asked, my guess is I won't be.

I loved the course,
I loved the CAM competition,
i loved the site,
I loved instructing novices,
I loved the grid flow,
i loved the novice driving improvements,
i loved the weather &
I loved seeing my friends again.
Having to dash offsite with no food vendor was the only negative in an otherwise spectacular day AND it wasn't that big a deal.

I actually REALLY liked the way that the hard left hander at the back set people up for a DNF. i LOVED that if you get it right, it was perfect, and if you get it wrong -- LOTS of bad things happen. This game is as much mental as it is cars and that particular 2 piece component was really PERFECT for the cerebral autocrosser.
I showed my 4 novices "the deal" during instruction and they ALL got it right at the end of the day.

That course was good practice for sure - complete opposite of the ZMAX course which I only walked once and felt comfortable running it. It was good training for looking ahead, staying tight and not getting late. Tires seemed to come in compared to how it drove at zmax. New car is fun, digging it so far. Super comfy to road trip in, lots of trunk space, got ~25mpg, rewarding to autox, PAX's well even one sticker stones, looks pretty, Marcus and I figured out it has a subwoofer that will bounce the straw in your cup around too.

Entry of the first slalom was actually probably my favorite part. Car would be oversteering slightly in the lane change, no real room to settle the car so you have to get on the brakes right now, then the car pendulums around that first cone.... and you are at a slow enough speed that you could "catch up" early in the slalom.

I'm not arguing big car vs little car either, the results speak for themselves. Certain courses no matter where you put the car don't always work that way either....
