Boo. Looks like Bluhvul is off the map at least for a while. Congrats to the city for getting more commercial activity back to the area, though.

Does its replacement put it on same date as our Double?

Well that sucks. At least it's only twice as far.

And anyone who’s been around for 10+ years who went to Nats at Heartland won’t really want to go back to drive on that surface anyway. I know I wouldn’t.

I hope they didn't pave it in sand like last time.

The surface is whatever, IMO. Big problem is it is 750-900 miles from ETR depending where you live.

I feel like losing all these good sites is gonna slowly kill Pro Solo as a sport and SCCA seems to not be doing much about it. Slowly withering down to crumby small sites.

If they wanted to slow the process down.. I think they would have already made purchases across the country.

I agree, if SCCA National doesn't take some big proactive steps I think this sport will be mostly done within ten years.

JY, I know you were going to talk to some people about it at the convention... what was national's attitude on it?

I have seen sites come and go. The sport isn't the same as it was when I first started travelling roughly 25 years ago. Sites that we used to use aren't considered acceptable anymore by many competitors. Take a look at the bitching that goes on about Bristol. Those people never ran Evansville, IN or Forbes Field in Topeka. There are other examples.

I don't think we will see the end of the sport due to site issues. We will see ebb and flow.

I also don't think SCCA national has the money to invest in sites across the country. Going deeply in debt to do so would be detrimental to the long term health of the club. I do think that well placed and well bought sites where they are available are a good idea.

I hope SCCA can invest in some sites but I don't think it will be the end of Solo if it doesn't happen (at least not due to sites).
